My boyfriend has been mentioning how he will be eating ramen noodles after all the bills are taken out of his upcoming paycheck. I have tried to give him cash, and I offered him help again last night while we were face timing. He keeps saying NO. We make almost the same salary wise. He is a young attourney, but his student debt is what kills him. I have the Army repaying my student loans, so I can definitely help him out, and he knows this. He keeps refusing my help, but why does he keep talking about his financial issues with me? My knee jerk reaction is going to be helping him out. I know he is a big boy, and I am worried I may seem like I am mothering him. So, I want to be sneaky about this when I get home this weekend and buy him a ton of groceries and a couple new shirts. He will say I shouldn't have, but at least he can't shove groceries back into my purse. Update: I got to work this morning and he texted me he has $80 to his name until the 15th. I responded with, "Don't worry, I'll be home soon, babe. Let's do a Wegman's run and I'll get us enough food to last US." I won't offer him cash, but at least I can provide groceries and justify my doing so because he is watching my cat and dog while I work in VA.
