It's not bad or good... It just "is". You are the way you are. We don't really talk about that here, because your model doesn't represent the vast majority of people. Since these types of relationships are so far outside my scope of knowledge, I have no idea how workable that might be. If I imagine a perfect situation where a woman behaves exactly like a man, and a man behaves exactly like a woman, there's no theoretical reason that it shouldn't work. But I don't know.

This. Fetishes are fetishes, and so long as the fetish doesn't harm the relationship, they're perfectly fine and can be doable. It is hard to find a dominant who is purely submissive sexually, though, so it would likely have to be a pure role reversal to work. Having never been in that setup, I can't say for sure, though.

I find it when I actually love the guy and respect him, and not just his façade (or what he agrees to show me), I am more submissive and eager to be ladylike instead of being one of the guys. If I find a man attractive I want him to make the final decisions rather than rest that responsibility on me.

Let me break it down.

Roughly 70% of cishet women prefer dominant men 70% of the time. Roughly 70% of cishet men prefer submissive women 70% of the time. There are those who lie at either end of the bell-curve, preferring either all male dominance, all the time or all female dominance all the time. If those people are very lucky they will find each other's complement.

The actual numbers are left as an exercise to the student, but you can get my drift. Most women prefer dominant men, but not all of them or all of the time. It's not a moral judgment, it's just how things are. Nor does the occasional bit of fdom play detract from a good RP marriage. Every now and then the First Officer needs to take the stick, so to speak, and the Captain shouldn't mind the break in routine. Novelty is crucial to a good sexual marriage. And letting a woman assert her sexual authority and sexual power without constraint helps her understand why that constraint can be helpful other times. It expands our erotic perspectives, builds trust, and for some it fulfills a deep need.

I agree that sexual variety is healthy, esp for men.

[–]DianaDewAsmr1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My first thought is to ask to r/AskTRP and r/trprelationships

My idea is that if man is turned on by it it's fine but I don't know how it can work in the long run in the roles and stuff.

based on the concepts of "survival of the fittest"... 1. male can not be 100% certain that the child is his 2. therefore male need to mate more frequently than female for his genes to survive 3. therefore male need sexual dominance 4. male loath female sexual dominance because a) she may be less likely to care for HIS baby b) she may cuckold him

ultimately, male keeping a harem is a proven survival strategy observed in nature. this strategy necessitates submissiveness of the females.

Yes

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you don't mind, could you perhaps elaborate?

[–]Carriemonroe[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Why?

[–]homo_homini_lupus -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Read the trp and our sidebars then come back

[–]Carriemonroe[S] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Or just be helpful and answer the question?

[–]homo_homini_lupus -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No

[–]Carriemonroe[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why not?

[–]TempestTcup0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Why should we do your work for you? Do you always take the easy route? It's all there on the sidebar spelled out for you; why do you need your own personal special snowflake explanation?

[–]Carriemonroe[S] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

As your particular world outlook is in the minority, maybe instead of belittling people trying to learn more, you should be helpful, no?

[–]homo_homini_lupus 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No ones stopping you from learning, read the sidebar

[–]TheTerrorSquadEndorsed Contributor0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you don't mind, could you perhaps elaborate?

[–]MeowZedong- 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I feel like the first part of your question is personal preference. I know men who prefer a submissive partner but my husband finds it a turn on if I throw him down and give him a BJ. Personally I'd find a submissive man a turn off.

[–]ALadyLikeMe1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Throwing him down may be dominant but a BJ is still a submissive gesture overall... Shoving his face in your pussy and demanding cunnilingus would be the more dom move and a man may like that for the novelty factory but in the long run most would not enjoy being constantly told how to perform in the bedroom.

[–]MeowZedong- 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh that's a good point I never thought of it that way! In that case, I'm not as dominant as I thought:)

[–]Carriemonroe[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that's fair.

[–]ALadyLikeMe0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

To answer your specific questions specifically....

A woman being sexually dominant is not "bad" unless she wants (consciously or subconsciously) a traditional RP style relationship. I'm sure plenty of female doms are "good" people and good partners (for their specifically minority fetish/relationship group). But if she needs the tingles of an alpha man, then playing the dom role in bed is going to work against her in finding/keeping such a man.

A sexually submissive man is not "bad" either. Different strokes for different folks. But if he is with the average woman who craves alpha tingles, then his submissiveness is going to be a turn off to her. He is better off with the female dom from above.

Are there personal reasons you are asking these questions: you like to be dom in bed or you are with a sexually submissive man, and you want insight? If so then more context is required to know if this situation is "good" or "bad" for you. Or are you just curious about power plays as they apply to RPW?

[–]Carriemonroe[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Curiosity and insight, mainly. Thanks.

[–]ayvyns0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not if he likes it and asks you to be that way

[–]Bea_Noemi0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It depends on what your SO enjoys. If he wants a dominant sexual partner, give him that. Do what makes him happy because that's what makes you happy. He will captain the ship the way he wants/sees fit and you support that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think a fetish is a fetish, whether its a man who likes playing the sub in bed or playing with sock puppets. It doesn't necessarily make someone 'good' or 'bad'. If it's something that turns your man on and it's not a hard limit for you, do it for him. As long as you don't let it spill over to other aspects of your relationship then it's perfectly acceptable to explore into this realm.

[–]tofeelforever0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not exactly answering your question but dominance can be up played and down played depending on the situation.

In college I was dominant in group projects. I wanted to get the work done and I wanted to get a good grade and I did not have time to screw around with my partners.

I am dominant in my role at work. I do a great job, I am praised by management, I am given raises. I do not let coworkers step on me.

I am submissive in my relationship. What S says goes, he leads, I follow. We talk about things, he takes my view into account, but decisions are ultimately up to him.

Granted, if you're trying to use your workplace or classroom as a way to meet your future SO dominance might be a hindrance. For me though I've been with S for a few years so my focus at work and school is to do a good job.
