That’s something I’ve heard from a couple of women when I was dating my husband “you’re too sweet, too nice”… which makes no sense at all. Why would it be bad to be pleasant towards the man I’m interested in?!

Also it’s just unsustainable to pretend to be someone you aren’t. The whole thing was ridiculous and as a happily married woman it’s a piece of advice I’m happy I ignored. If a man exists that honestly doesn’t like that you’re nice to him it’s best to move on.

No, that is generally a woman's issue, not a man's. Men want peace; it is usually women who crave drama.

Now Boring is bad. But nice? Unless that is code for naive, boring, and vanilla, that isn't an issue, and even then many men are okay with ît.

Men are likely to be turned off by a girl who is not fun. So if you are uptight in a way that you are not willing to ever do fun things or are nagging at him because he’s not doing things perfectly, yes they will be turned off by this part of your personality.

But in general, a guy looking for a wife wants someone who is better than him in terms of her behavior, ability to be nice and feminine. So the “you’re too good for me” idea is pretty rare.

I do think there are guys who don’t have their life together and know you are out of their league so self select out and this is good because this is what you want.

The context really matters. If you are being told you are too nice and too perfect, it’s usually a guy who you truly are too good for and he knows it or it’s context for something else.

As others have mentioned, if it comes across as disingenuous, like putting on a perfect/nice/cute girl act to fool a man into thinking something untrue, that's bad. And it may surprise you to know that most men can see right through those kinds of acts but will then choose how they want to react to it and proceed in the courtship/relationship, weighing the pros/cons.

But if a woman is genuinely just very nice and "perfect" and "proper," there are men who may not want to pursue that and there are men who do. Just have to find the right person. Honesty and genuine intent are by far the most important qualities.

From my experience if you are with someone who puts you on this pedalstool, there's a small voice in them that is striving to knock you off said pedalstool. If you do break and fall, they'll lord it over you. If you don't then the stool just keeps getting taller. He'll also hold that over your head. 'Oh Miss perfect never does anything wrong.'

No, but being a “pick me” is repulsive to men in the same way “nice guy syndrome” is repulsive to women. If you’re so focused on being perfect for a guy to the point where it is inauthentic, desperate or doormat-like, of course that’s a turn off.

What's the other end of the spectrum look like? Too nice and too perfect is how they consciously project themselves in their social life. How you consciously project yourself as will be balanced by a longing for the exact opposite. Nature has a tendency to balance it self out. The problem is how and where "their exact opposite" manifests. It's the relationship with the shadow so many critical thinkers talk about.
