Fear of losing her ruined my last relationship and sent me into a spiral of misery that ultimately led me here. I thought I had done a lot of work to improve myself (had a good job, was working out, had lots of women interested, etc.) but all that was useless because I had done all of it to impress her.

When shit got complicated or she treated me without respect, I didn't summon all that hard work to stand my ground and demonstrate abundance, I fell apart and became the dude I had been desperately trying to escape. And, of course, she left.

The problem though, is that reality conforms to the 80/20 rule. "You're the prize" advice is like the "you go girl" stuff that is rampant. It's all nice in theory but it does not reflect the true reality and thus leads (most) people nowhere.

And for fuck's sake, don't sign lopsided contracts with biased terms and enforcement (AKA modern marriage).

It does nothing to enforce quality as a partner or parent on her part (in fact, it does the opposite), so it is just a reliable increase in risk with no reliable increase in potential reward.

In other words, a real fucking bad deal.

Cohabit and form a stable domestic partnership if you must in order to raise successful offspring, but allowing 3rd parties (be it via apathy or blind faith) anymore influence over it than absolutely necessary is absolutely stupid, considering those 3rd parties sole real interest is keeping you financially on the hook no matter what.

And if you are not high enough value to be able to dictate your terms, you now know what your first task is.

Great post and insight. One thing you just brushed over simplistically but can be expanded: Emotional attachment. If you want an LTR you have to cede emotional attachment to a degree. It's the only thing that makes a LTR different than spinning plates; which is both parties giving more. But you can expand your posts mentality into this and ask can you give emotional attachment and still have confidence in your indirect abundance (I liked that term btw). That's why LTR is RP hard mode. The stakes are higher. Are you good enough to resist transforming into a beta relationship? And if that happens, are you good enough to end it once you understand happened? Are you good enough to not delude yourself when it happens?

I've been threatened by a woman with her leaving several times. After I caved that one time when I was married she thought it was a viable tactic in her overall strategy. The second time I told her I was going to help her pack. She backed down immediately, and so have all the others since.

I don't negotiate with terrorists, and neither should you. Kick her to the curb and go find her replacement THAT NIGHT.
