Women's natural instinct is to blame others for their shortcomings. That's the basis of feminism: "I didn't get the job, therefore there must be a vast patriarchal conspiracy against me. Because otherwise I'd have to accept that I just wasn't good enough, and I like to imagine I'm perfect."

My school newspaper had an article like this one not too long ago, arguing that standardized tests are evil and should be abolished. Nestled in there was the female author's admission that she bombed the LSAT and so has no realistic career prospects with her liberal arts degree.

edit: The chick from MIT is like a 4/10. Explains a lot.

That's why you go to one of those schools. To someone who is passionate about what they're studying, putting in that kind of time is PLAY, not work. Ok sure, you also have to have a lot of stamina to keep that momentum up for that long (if you don't, like me btw, go to a smaller name school! MIT isn't for everyone).

These people never learn or even understand the purpose of school. When they apply to these universities, they never look at the university's mission statement and such - those things are not important to them. Only the school ranking. And they expect it to be easy.

I'm starting out a math PhD program this autumn, and first year students are expected to take 4 grad-level classes each semester. You think I'll be spending anything short of 50-60 hrs per week learning and exploring that stuff (as opposed to working 40 hrs a week now)? You bet your ass I won't! And I don't mind! I can't WAIT to go and explore the things I am so passionate about! Anyway, I got sidetracked... let's go back to what this bitch says:

So she went to study some other BS that she probably saw other women study like Biology - what does that have to do with fucking art beats me. If you're gonna get a minor, get something you're either passionate about, or complements your original major to begin with (which you should be passionate about so that you become SO GOOD at it that you just radiate value when looking for jobs later).

This is the only thing I can understand - failure is not recognized as part of life, even though it's a BIG part. The cause is the system/mentality that doesn't leave anyone behind, and gives prizes to kids just for showing up instead of having actual skill. It has nothing to do with MIT, it happens everywhere.

Yea! But instead of educating young people, she spends the whole article blaming MIT for how life really is.

Look, fellas, there's no denying that women are predominantly the ones who complain. But let's face it, there are plenty of men who do it too. Some of you are reading this, and probably just commented about how women bla bla bla. That's not what you should take from this article. What you should take is this: don't complain about your problems, everyone has problems. IT'S PART OF LIFE.

Go take action, face challenges, become so passionate about something that when people ask you what you like to do, you are prepared to give a 1 hr speech about your passion impromptu without even thinking about it. But you don't actually talk for 1 hr, you condense that in a short response that just emanates that masculine drive, and just inspires everyone as soon as you open your mouth.

I went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for my bachelor's, starting in September 2006 and graduating with a degree in "Art and Design" (that means architecture) in June 2010.

I also got a nice going-away basket filled with crushing insecurity, low self-worth, severe issues with time management, sporadic panic attacks, and depression ranging from mild to suicidal. I'm grateful, aaaand I'm not. Many of the characteristics which made me a good candidate for an elite school were the same things that made that environment toxic for me.

Stupid fucking cunt. People go into a lifetime of debt for an experience as valuable as a college degree. It's her fault and her's only she chose to get an Arts degree at MIT.

As an engineer at one of the top 50 schools in the country, I am absolutely pissed at the entitlement bleeding from this paper. I got rejected by MIT and seeing her complain that she went to MIT irritates me.

If you were wasting your time at MIT, if you hate putting in the work to succeed, if you are so afraid of failure, there are thousands of people who would be willing to take your spot. You know what we call that? Competition.

Also, in life, you will fail. And school is no different. This woman complains about how failure is inevitable. How spoiled can she get? If you just wanted it easy, you should've gone to a different college and done something else.

Honestly, I have so many complaints that I could level at her that aren't sex based. It's as if a meritocracy offends her.

Should have gone to Brown then. MIT, Uchicago, caltech etc these type of schools are HARD, they require their students take subjects in science and math, and as a result many kids do sink. On the flip side you have top tier schools who subscribe to the 'we are obligated to do some hand-holding and help our students get Bs and A-s so even the dumb ones get jobs and our stats stay good' philosophy. So there's easy and tough majors, there's resources to help you, there's coddling, etc, so that the junkies and athletes and moron legacy kids can still get a 3.3 GPA in business and get hired by some 3rd tier firm to which the school has a relationship with. You want a supportive loving community? How about a private liberal arts college like Carleton or Harvey Mudd if you need 11-1 student-teacher ratio.

Honestly what probably happened to this hamster is that Harvard Yale Stanford etc all rejected her, but MIT (having started a massive initiative right when she would have been accepted of going from 30% female to 50+ % female) did accept her despite her slightly subpar qualifications. So naturally she went, not realizing you don't get to just cruise by through Physics 112. Whereas in high school she could play the game of grubbing and befriending teachers to help her "win" by getting into MIT, now that she has gotten there, she has no skills she needs to win there.

As a grad school student at MIT I'm gonna have to actually agree with her. I went to cornell undergrad which was tough but the undergrad student life at MIT seems awful in comparison. Undergrads are notably more stressed here.

That's a joke in and of itself. She went to one of the premiere engineering schools in the world and got a degree in Liberal Arts... That's like going to Yale to major in finger painting.
