Two weeks ago I had my own experience that made me google a bit and find this golden forum, I am fending on the posts made on this site, now it is time to share some thoughts of mine on the subject.

I am a 30 year old resident in surgery in France, and I come from middle eastern origin, I grew up in US and this explain how I learned the English language. What I want to share with you is the silent subtle inequality in between two genders in surgical training, it all started to be noticeable in first three weeks of the residency program, I was at residents' resturant, there was this 55 year old dude surrounded by a circle of staff doctors, soon enough, a young resident at her first year of Opthalmology program pass by him, she is about 24 years old, she lower her head and they exchange a kiss on the lips, I ask my colleagues who are they, and it was head of service of neurosurgery and the young resident is Opthalmology trainee, they hooked up just two weeks ago, shocking, but appeared to me that here in France such relationships are not frowned upon. Months later all the first year female residents in surgery hook up and start relationships with senior chefs in surgery, my collague, let's call her Sara, hook up with a chief in vascular surgery, in about a year, her surgical skills advanced thanks to her boyfriend/mentor, know all the secrets of the business, she get connected to upper society and transfer to plastic surgery from General. I can count at least 4 females in surgery who had same chain of events, and similar shifts in their careers and many more outside of surgery who had an advancement in their career based on who they chosen to fuck in the program. And shifted to highly paying and comfortable subspecialties.

This by itself resulted in dangerous scenarios, although I believe in equality in between genders, I find some types of surgeries should reconsider having a female chef, one example was a chef in vascular who became a pregnant, the head of service didn't want to cancel the surgeries as everyone pay depend on it, and same time he didn't want to give her surgeries for other surgeons as they will not be compensated a (paid maternity leave does not mean extra pay for who will take her job), so the head of service decided to expedite the training of a 5th year resident so he will become capable to take her job when she, the chef, leave for her maternity time off, that resulted in some major mistakes and less surgical outcome quality.

The end of the day, male surgical residents get the bad deal, usually work harder, no mentor and usually pushed into surgeries with heavy burden. They can't complain only man up and maybe grow to be a chef fucking young residents one day. It is a good times to have a vagina my friends.

EDIT: many here went off the subject, what I want to illustrate is 1; the chiefs on blue pill who empower young residents to have their resources, by soon as they advance in their career they opt out for different chefs. 2. it is okay to fuck in the job, but to manipulate selection to put non qauilifed individual in demanding speciality (ex; obesity surgery, vascular surgery..) 3. it is okay although unethical to use your body to advance in career, even in cream rubbing specialities such as dermatology, but surgery.. really? 4. also I meant by this post to spread awareness.
