The "new feminist movement" is nothing but the sum of individual women finding pleasure in being seen as a victim, or belonging to a group of people being seen as victims. The proofs are obvious and many: obsession with "patriarchy" and "rape culture", complete disregard at the issues of men (eg divorce laws: "this doesn't make me a victim so I don't care"), anger at women not sharing their opinion (eg "how can you not see you're being a victim?"), overlooking the obvious abuse of the ideology (rape hoaxes: "every woman is a victim, even those who actually aren't") and the apparent complete inability to realize that antagonizing men will cause their demise ("we're victim of men, we can't side with men to promote equality").
I'll give you one example: it's been shown that actively teaching women not to get into dodgy situations reduce the numbers of rape, while no amount of "teaching men not to rape" seem to affect rape rates. Given that rape is a serious issue and needs to be eliminated, shouldn't we work rationally on the basis of these studies and do what works? Feminists won't accept it, because it does not fit their overarching ideal that women are the victims, not responsible. Let it sink in: feminists won't support the measures that do prevent rape, only because said measures go against the idea of women as victims.
The day feminists drop their desire for being a victim and stop antagonizing men for being the perpetrators is the day you'll start getting credibility, create a common agenda and positive things will actually happen for everyone. But I seriously doubt such a day will ever come.

Very well said....goes for other supposed "victim" groups as well. I haven't seen any groups really embrace the non victim role. Hence nothing really changes but more antagonizing, political differences, polarization, etc
[–]Stythe0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
This is the best way to explain the current state of affairs. Victimization, pure and simple. I'd take it a step farther and say that it's outright entitlement.
My personal opinion is that the current state of "mental illness" is mostly correlated to people knowing this intrinsically but continuing to live in cognitive dissonance with said entitlement. Most people who claim to be feminists or "empowered woman" I've met have come from a place of trauma, neglect, insecurity or outright brainwashing and suffer from, at least, depression. Yet the most they do it hit up a therapist, to talk and talk and talk about the problems. What they actually DO about them I've never known.
That said, I think the lack of a clear, defined goal coupled with the (what should be) obvious cult of victimization causes people to genuinely be confused, scared, which makes feminism a powerful tool of brainwashing. Why wouldn't you want to blame a man if all you hear are stories of patriarchy, rape, and unfairness to women?
In the past I thought people grew out of these issues like teenagers grow out of rebelliousness, but this generation is so caught up in SJW shit that I don't see it happening. It's scary.
[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
but teens do not automatically grow out of rebelliousness. You need a stable society providing a stable family (marriage & kids) and career (income, purpose) and without that the rebelliousness actually is life-long.
I know I have no ability to find/make a stable family situation, and income is unstable most of the time too. So did my rebellious streak go? Never. I'll be 40 next year. I instead reject society entirely and do any damn thing I want and avoid being caught.

Fair enough. I suppose it depends on what you know, want and come from. Still, all that can change if you try. I thought people eventually just outgrew the need to rebel, but I assume that's just a BP belief I that was instilled in me from my past. The truth stares me in the face every day.

the truth is many people become too weak or old to fight as needed and accept slavery. OR become mid-level slave-managers and so get some of that nice skim the bigger bosses get so they lose a reason to fight.

Makes sense. If you get set into a patter and live your life that way it's tough to even look outside that pattern. Sometimes you don't even see the pattern, as with victims of abuse. If you get something out of your situation and the alternative is difficult, males sense to not even look away from your current life.
I know for me personally I had a job that allowed me to be silly, taught me to be social and was, in the surface, a good cause. It wasn't until my ex used me and bailed that I realized I was a sucker at that job too, deluding myself info working waaaay harder than I should for nowhere near the pay I wanted. I had a mental breakdown when I lost that part of my life. I had to reassess some very ingrained core beliefs and it hurt a lot at the time.
I can totally see why people wouldn't want to go through that. Sadly, going through it really does make you stronger

Men and women have fundamental differences due to biology.
If you're not willing to accept that as a starting point, this debate is pointless here.
[–]eeeaddict 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's like gender studies classes, that say there are no differences between genders. WTF are you studying then?
[–]1RedPillJax2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not like we have these essential sex hormones that when introduced in large amounts into the wrong gender creates all sorts of changes.
Boils my blood if I dwell too long on it.

Yup. This is the false premise that leads to the completly logical conclusion of feminism.
If you break down this premise, then the inconsistent house of cards comes tumbling down.

Nothing, we don't give a shit about feminism.

So women are inferior to men I suppose?
[–]pepsivanilla936 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
No. Women have their needs and so do men. Feminism is about making the feminine imperative the mainstream idea, so as women's needs will be society's goal. It's a parasitic idea that takes and never gives back.

Almost everything you see around you, assuming you are not surfing the Net in the wild, was invented, developed, built and maintained by men. Women have done very little in the progress of human history, and they do very little to facilitate modern mining, agriculture and manufacture. The onus to justify that men and women are equal (as opposed to the moral judgement that we should be treated equally) is on those promoting it. I have never seen anyone defend this argument.
[–]1oldredder1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
said wireless networks and/or satellite grid are also invented & maintained by men.

Yes they are.... when your building is burning do you want your average male friend or average female friend to pull you out?
When we have to attack the enemy, do you want that fastest, most crack shot team, or the team that cant hump average.
Same human value... yes. All women have equal life value to men. Same functional value. No... If it is war, no woman will ever hang (on average - for the sensitive). The same with an average life conflict.
[–]larrythetomato1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
When you describe physical or mental challenges yes, but let's say you are in a social setting and you want to know who is lying, then would you want a woman there? I know I would.
[–]T34_B4991n5 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Or if you want to raise a healthy child, it's pretty fucking important to have a good woman.
Women are very important, but they have their roles that they are good and bad at, and men have their own roles. If we both focus on our strengths, we can have a wonderful and strong unity. But if we both focus on the same thing, we will both be mediocre at everything, and not have a need for eachother.
The mentality that women and men are completly equal leaves both sides lonely and unnecessary.
[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn't. I'd trust a man who's played poker above a woman.
Now if it's Jennifer Tilley we've got a real shot. I'd poker

Yes men are better than women, was not that clear? It does not mean women don't have their own potential, it just means men overall are just better. Like the imbecils that said that all men are created equal, no their not mother fucker. If you doubt me go look at some handicaped person and see if he can out wit you, I doubt it. Women come up with all this bullshit to justify why they never invented things or accomplished much, we were oppressed and we could not go to school, bla bla bla. I have one thing to say to them, STEP THE FUCK UP, where the fuck was your so called feminism then? Men, real men take what they want. They don't let some constitution or some other men inspire them, fuck that gay shit. Life doesn't hand you shit, did men say to the world stop eating us and killing us with diseases. no we stepped the fuck up. Women are inferior as they have demonstrated, men step up women step down, enough said faggot.
[–]Sawagurumi 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Equality is one of those weasel words. 'how can you not believe in equality?' they say. But what does it mean? The moral argument that compels people to agree is the idea of equal rights under the law, which I think we all agree with (but feminists don't, they want, and get, greater rights). But hidden behind it, once you agree, is the idea that men and women are essentially the same, the difference is just a social construct. So women could have achieved all the things that men did throughout history, but they didn't because they were oppressed. This is complete bullshit, we would still be in caves, and women were not oppressed, they were protected.
So yes, we only care about feminism in so far as it is the enemy of all men (and hence, all women, since women are dependent on men whether they acknowledge it or not), and the enemy of Western civilization. If we don't take it down, then this civilization comes to an end and we enter a new Dark Age in the West.
On an individual level, a feminist is just a woman who doesn't deserve a man's time.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How petty. Where in pcadrian's short sentence was that statement implied?
That's a separate question: men are inferior at making babies and breastfeeding, that much we can be sure of.
[–]balmylips 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You said it yourself that this wave of feminism (third wave) has no coherent direction. There is neither coherent leadership nor a coherent message. And what ends up coming out is an appeal to give women more privilege, as if to compensate for centuries of oppression, and to make them superior to men. This has destroyed the very notion of feminism as seeking equality.
[–]fundude12 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
No, men and women are biologically different.
Women being placed in the workforce and being given the vote has largely ruined the society.
[–]Piroko -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I would argue that it was unlimited democracy that really did the damage, because it made it inevitable that women would gain that in the first place. It created the moral hazard to broaden the electorate.
[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
but we have no such unlimited democracy. We barely have any democracy of any sort to speak of.
We do have rigged elections and rigged candidates all supported by the same single source of influence and money to every party. That we have. That's very much anti-democracy.
[–]Piroko -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
You are mistaken.
It IS democracy.
The problem is YOUR expectations OF democracy. You do not account for the Tragedy of the Commons. You expect too much.
Read Starship Troopers.
[–]1oldredder-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That is not democracy.
That's like saying printing money and taxing the poor to death is capitalism.
it isn't. You've been brainwashed by the blue pill.
In real actual democracy we all actually get to vote on the actual things we want to do or not do, and who will lead.
We do nothing like that today.
The tragedy of the commons is a MYTH. It does not happen. Here's why: the individual and collective actions are IGNORED. No one responds to your vote, nor do you control where your tax dollars go. They are rigged elections controlled by world banking organizations multinationally. Every vote is ignored and the total result of every vote is set by computer and the people running in each election are pre-selected or removed with no voting power ever involved before you ever get as far as the vote stage, which then will be ignored and the real count erased and a new count set by the controllers.
It's not who votes, it's who COUNTS the votes.
We have no democracy today. It is not a thing which happens.
[–]Piroko -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
You do that today. Like I said, you simply expect too much from democracy. Read Starship Troopers.
"The unlimited democracies were unstable because their citizens were not responsible for the fashion in which they exerted their sovereign authority, other than through the tragic logic of history. The unique 'poll tax' that we must pay was unheard of. No attempt was made to determine whether a voter was socially responsible to the extent of his literally unlimited authority. If he voted the impossible, the disastrous possible happened instead—and responsibility was then forced on him willy-nilly and destroyed both him and his foundationless temple."
[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
No. Today we do no such things. We get zero say, zero vote, because the votes are erased. You are either stupid or lying.
Your vote IS ERASED. NOT EVER COUNTED.
Do you comprehend?
Every action of your government is made as a unilateral decision based on the decision of 20 people at most, ever, has been for more than 100 years, and the votes are tossed in the bin. Never used.
[–]Piroko -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That's democracy.
The only votes that actually count are the ones that aren't cancelled out by someone else who thinks you and your ideas are bullshit.
[–]1oldredder0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That's not democracy. That's the purest form of anti-democracy.
Like saying "stealing" is "commerce" you are wrong.
If I lift all your goods at gun point that's not commerce. That's the purest anti-commerce.
You are using the absolute lie as if it were the truth.
Dismissed.
Real democracy must at all times mean the votes are counted accurately. Must.
To do otherwise is anti-democracy.
May as well shoot people in the head and call it "medicine"

how do all shit tests work? by being unaware of them. When a little girl asks her father for an ice cream dinner, he can say yes and enjoy ice cream with her. But then she will ask for more, because she does not want ice cream, she wants her father to say no, and keep saying no. She wants to make sure he is as solid as a rock.
work? Feminism can, will, is, and is intended to destroy civilization. It's working

I meant in terms of respect and how they should be treated, nice to see how sexist this became lol
[–]pcadrian 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's what happens when you ask a bunch of guys how feminism (aka demonization of men) can do what it does better. What did you expect?
