I'm reposting a comment I made in another fighting thread because it got buried. Most of these fighting posts have been absolute garbage and that needs to be addressed.

I'm an MMA fighter who has fought at the world level, been involved in combat sports for 10 years, with an athletic and TMA background before that, and too many street fights.

You need a lot of experience through sparring and fighting to be able to construct a workable system for the books and the internet to enhance. Without experience you're trying to learn how to swim by practicing on dry land. Helpful if you've swam before and you're trying to modify your system, worthless on its own.

With that out of the way, I will teach you how to cheese fights. This means doing the best you can with no regard to your actual ability to fight. In order of importance:

  1. Get fucking jacked and strong. Strong people are more dangerous and generally harder to kill than weak people.
  2. Go first and go hard with violent intent. If you're going to fight someone, go first, go balls to the wall, and try to fuck them up as much as possible as quickly as possible. Surprise and aggression have taken out many skilled fighters before they could ever put their training to work. We want blood red hazy vision mind numbing aggression.
  3. Do 400m sprint repeats. The more you can put into an all out effort in about a minute to a minute and a half of sustained violence, the more dangerous you are.

Alright, as an addendum let's go over the fastest way to build a base for violence. No substitute for real training, but it's the best you've got in a pinch.

Ideally you get into lots of street fights and learn in the fire. This is also retarded and will get you killed or arrested. So the next best thing is one minute of nonstop punching with a similarly sized friend.

This will teach you more about violence than 100 youtube videos and 10 years of jacking off your karate sensei. You will learn how to fight back while getting seriously hurt, will build a workable system for violent situations, and will reinforce violent intent/aggression. Plus it's a lot of fucking fun.

Another addendum, for fun. Miyamoto Musashi the legendary samurai, known for winning over fifty solo duels to the death, advocated brutality. In his first duel to the death at the age of thirteen he fought a competent swordsman. Musashi's strategy and weapon of choice? He grabbed a heavy staff vs his opponent's sword, rushed him, and violently beat him to death with it.

The excerpt from wikipedia for those who find violence entertaining.

" In 1596, Musashi was 13, and Arima Kihei, who was traveling to hone his art, posted a public challenge in Hirafuku-mura. Musashi wrote his name on the challenge. A messenger came to Dorin's temple, where Musashi was staying, to inform Musashi that his duel had been accepted by Kihei. Dorin, Musashi's uncle, was shocked by this, and tried to beg off the duel in Musashi's name, based on his nephew's age. Kihei was adamant that the only way his honour could be cleared was if Musashi apologized to him when the duel was scheduled. So when the time set for the duel arrived, Dorin began apologizing for Musashi, who merely charged at Kihei with a six-foot quarterstaff, shouting a challenge to Kihei. Kihei attacked with a wakizashi, but Musashi threw Kihei on the floor, and while Kihei tried to get up, Musashi struck Arima between the eyes and then beat him to death. Arima was said to have been arrogant, overly eager to battle, and not a terribly talented swordsman. "

Try not to get killed or arrested.
