Good post. I'd like to add that an LTR always put you at a disadvantage. If you're committed you take yourself out of the game to some extent. A girl, on the other hand, is NEVER out of the game. She just has to maintain a decent appearance and can be approached even when in an LTR and decide on a case-by-case basis whether jumping ship is worth is the risk. She cannot be "blamed" for being approached by guys, whereas you could be blamed for approaching women while in an LTR.

It's definitely a raw deal, but it is what it is and we are all free to choose what is best for us.

I used the term "women are always shopping" years ago, long before I heard anyone use the term hypergamy. The part that we tend to forget is that it applies to everything, not just mates. Women consume absurd amount of resources to upgrade everything in their lives--their purses, their floors, their cars, their shoes, their kitchens, their EVERYTHING. They can't be satisfied and they are wired that way. Why? Because once they feel like they can't consume resources, they fear the resources my dry up for good and with it any sense of their cherished stability.

Yeh, LTRs are an act of self-defeating madness, IMO, that's why I decided to abandon that shit long ago.

The main difficulty has been fighting off family pressures to get married. This is a fight I just don't know how to win. My parents want me married and want me to have children. I understand why; they made a huge investment in me and want that investment paid off with the propagation of their genes. I get it, it's not a mystery, I just don't want to go with it.

Honestly, what is the point of an LTR unless you're going to go for the nuclear-family type thing? No point at all. And if you're goal is a nuclear family, in America, the access fee is a job that pays 80k to 100k year. And you gotta have that income continue to last.

It's all PUA and STRs (short-term-relationships) for me until I acquire the access fee - then I'll consider that decision when I get there; no idea if I'll actually make that decision.

I remember back when I was a Nice Guy, I heard a story about a clique of surfers. When one of them would get a girlfriend, he would get teased and called a "fag" by his peers.
