One of the big problems that gets a lot of attention among MRAs is that way too many men just don't give much of a shit about anything (aside from women/sex). Compare the size of the MRM to feminism. Most people I know don't even know that there even is a MRM. If a movie presents something offensive to men, it just gets laughed off. If it's offensive to women, there's usually a shitstorm.

That gets talked about enough though, and I'm more interested in the broader economic scope. A big reason why Corporate USA in general (not just entertainment industry) cares more about women is simply because they spend more and are more reliable as consumers.

Women spend more on consumer goods than men. They save less. Just read up on the countless studies and articles comparing spending habits of men and women. A lot of guys contribute to this further by pedestaling women/sex over their personal needs. Buying luxuries cars instead of practical ones just to impress. Buying gifts. Paying for fancy restaurants geared towards women's tastes or romance in general. Even the demographics of prostitution support the idea that men are spending more on women/sex, while women spend more on everything else.

Women are financially more consistent and risk-averse. There's more variance among men. More risk-takers. More failures and more wild success stories. More hobos, but at the same time more rags-to-riches successes. Even feminist writers, while boasting the financial prowess of women over men, will point out that it is due to men's "overconfidence" (which a few admit is correlated to risk-taking).

So it makes sense that much of entertainment is geared towards women's tastes. Not only do they spent more, but they are more consistent financially. Men on the other hand are less stable financially (take more risks), much higher variance, spending less,.. and that's on top of simply not giving a shit.

So the question becomes: Why should corporate USA give a shit about men when we're such a terrible consumer base?

I don't personally have a solution to this. If you really can't stand the entertainment industry, then you can just avoid mainstream entertainment and support indie development of entertainment. That's the direction we're all going anyway. For video games, we have Steam as a platform, for example. As technology improves and development platforms are improved, indie development of shows, movies, and games will become easier for the average guy.

In general though, just avoid over-investing emotionally and financially in women, and care more about yourself. Otherwise, you hurt yourself and men in general in the long run.

Anything I want. Netflix has been a good source for movies and I find myself gravitating towards European films where they're a little more honest about the primal differences between men and women.

In an American film, a character saying "I love you" is the emotional climax. In a European film, it's foreshadowing impending doom.

Get outside, man. My love for the outdoors and my hobbies that I do outside have helped me appreciate myself more. Its important to remember how big the world is and everything that goes on out there is real… no phony bull shit that exists within society. Personally, I like to rock climb, backpack, and go mountain biking. It's great as far as being active and healthy and in my opinion it is mind cleansing. Men belong in the outdoors.

Entertainment is an inherently female concept. Women go out looking for entertainment (stimulation). The clubs, just like TVs, are designed to be a female fantasyland, full of lights, loud disorienting music, alcohol... all sorts of "fun". To be entertained is a hair away from "let me turn off my brain and sit back while stuff other people built titillates me."

If entertainment seems ridiculous to you, GOOD! It is ridiculous. Male entertainment is not always better - I mean, male magazines like Flex Magazine for example is still filled to the brim with BP bullshit up the ass. Alcohol ads everypage, 90% short cut supplements that will give you Ronnie Coleman's body in 6 months, and a bunch of BS articles designed for people with pea-sized attention spans.

The masculine version of entertainment is actually the exact OPPOSITE of what females and betas think of as entertainment. Whereas entertainment is temporarily living in some fantasyland, be it a club, video game, TV show, sports game... the RP form of entertainment is getting deeper into reality. Build something. Challenge yourself climb a tree. Get hands on with the world around you - do not escape, but engage. Build a video game instead of playing one. Learn to code. Learn to sing. Write a book.

Entertainment has become synonymous with consumption in our modern age. But it wasn't always this way. I'm not above this by any means - after realizing my entertainment consisted only of dully enjoying things that other people have built, I try to do 50-50 now. Half of the time I'll consume, half of the time I crave "entertainment" I'll create.

TLDR: Create something, don't consume what's around you. Men weren't put here to be entertained by bullshit, and this bullshit wasn't created to entertain YOU. Nothing is entertaining as self-entertainment.

I shoot, hunt, rock climb, work out (martial arts/starting to lift), play paintball/airsoft, play video games, read a stupidly large amount of literature in the military thriller/espionage/military history genre, watch a select few TV shows (Justified, SOA, The Americans, GoT, Community, Strike Back, The Wire, Band of Brothers/The Pacific/Generation Kill), watch a select few movies (basically the same thing as my literary tastes), play Magic the Gathering/DnD and browse the internet.

Plenty of shit to do that doesn't involve watching bad television.

edit: Almost forgot, I watch the New England Patriots religiously.

Posting stupid shit on Reddit is agreeable at times.
Been plucking my guitar a little more often these days.

Mostly though, for me, entertainment always has a drawback as it's taking time away from building myself up. I haven't been able to really enjoy alone time, unless it's real alone time. Learning guitar is great for that, it also adds something of value to my life. After guitar I plan to move on to the violin and the piano. Other than that, yeah, I agree with you, most movies or TV sitcoms these days have lost their entertainment value. Have you SEEN Modern Family, holy shit talk about the epitome of Beta-hood.

I can't watch movies without getting pissed off and shouting at the TV "That isn't how it works!!"

I love the Big Bang Theory, mainly for Sheldon, and the characters grew on me over the years, but seeing how much of a raging slut Penny is, how much of a cunt Bernadette is to Howard because she earns more and is hotter than him just annoys me to no end. It's so excruciatingly painful to see these guys subjected to shit but it does actually confirm what we say here. The guys are all beta providers for girls about to hit the wall in a few years and they all have lower SMV than the girls they're dating.

Leonard I kinda imagine to be like a very new redpiller walking a wonky path, sometimes getting it right, most the time getting it wrong.

Raj is completely fucking pathetic and I cringed like fuck when he was with that other socially anxious girl and despite being low smv herself she still ditched him... and he fixated and cried like a child that had lost its mother for the first time.

Funnily enough watch how Sheldon treats Amy, he's a total ass to her and she can't get over him. There's a bit of RP gold in that, even though its under the pretense that Sheldon is mentally challenged in a social aspect it works (I'd guess Sheldon is autistic or something.)

I kill two birds with one stone by watching TV while on the treadmill/elliptical. Basically it's the only time I watch TV and I usually just watch a movie that's showing or Cops.

I'm one of those "kill your TV" people but I never express it. I never watch TV...and honestly I think that makes me easily entertained.

This is going to sound silly, but I consider what's called "weird Twitter" and Favstar (app that's more like a community within Twitter) a form of entertainment since it's mostly telling jokes, following funny people, and expressing random ass thoughts.

The last bastion of manhood on TV is Sports. Outside of Sports TV has absolutely nothing to offer the average man. The Internet is where it is at for most men, but don't worry the feminists are coming for that too. Of course there are Red Pill movies out there but they are considered fringe and will not see the light of day on mainstream channels. For your own sanity and intellectual health I feel that it is best to avoid mainstream media.

Don't watch tv. I don't have a tv for... 8 years now and I don't miss it. Everything you want and is worth watching you can get on your computer.

I enjoy few rounds of quakelive or sc2. I know gaming is beta and I'm fucking 30 but shit, it is entertaining. More entertaining than anything else really, well unless you are horny. Keep it to few hours a week and I see no problem. Thinking about buying a big tv (after almost a decade of not owning one...) and a ps4 to have some quality relax in the evening.

If I'm not tired I enjoy cooking and reading. For some reason I am entertained when I cook something fancy.

If dissecting entertainment (from reputable writers) to add to your knowledge bank of relevant situational awareness is not rewarding enough, then I would suggest studying philosophy as a form of mental stimulation (the writer's bias on philosophy is at the essence of entertainment anyway).

It is a massive undertaking to examine all the philosophies out there but I intend on spending a good chunk of my life on the stuff that relates to my direction, and sooner rather than later in case I regret not knowing something sooner.

Haven't watched TV in a long time. I ignore those parts of movies, and don't watch movies where a man turns beta and wins and other sappy chick flicks. There are better things to do. Winter is the only time I am not outside most of the time, and I tend to while away hours reading, thinking, cooking, and playing video games or spending time with my dogs when its cold as fuck here. Warm weather has me in the woods or in the shop building a car or truck.

I am 'retired' so all of my time is leisure time. It feels better to do something constructive, or even just interactive, than to sit passively and be told a story.

classic literature and videogames, because you're damn right about mainstream TV and movies.

I can only watch deadpan comedies like Always Sunny and The League because they don't take themselves seriously and don't preach feel-good bullshit, and tragedies like the Walking Dead because real life is fucking tragic, and i can embrace that. How I Met Your Mother is interesting because it intends to showcase red pill and blue pill philosophies through slapstick foils.

I'm in the middle of reading the Dune saga right now, and it's the most red pill series i've ever encountered. the complementary nature of masculine and feminine is a common theme in the book, and it's extremely refreshing. if you like deep scifi, spy intrigue, royal intrigue, or the noble savage theme at all, you've gotta start Dune.

Videogames are one of the last forms of art and media where masculine virtues and intellectual pursuit can be celebrated and explored without apology. it's funny that i've seen far deeper discussions of uncomfortable issues in videogames, which are seen as a boy's toy by mainstream society, than in any other form of media besides literature.

Think about the heady discussions of nationalism, statism, loyalty, genetic determinism, and the role of technology and control of information in the fight between good and evil all throughout the Metal Gear series. Think about the admonitions against corporate control of information and of our own biology in the Deus Ex series. Think about the heavy environmental message in Final Fantasy VII, as well as its critiques on corporatism, wealth distribution, propaganda, and blind loyalty to authority. Think about all the dire warnings and critiques on modern life and war throughout the Fallout series. Think about the glorious and disastrous experiments in objectivism, collectivism, and zionism in the Bioshock series, as well as the exploration of free will and determinism, nature vs. nuture as posed in the first two! Granted these are all violent games, but they are also illustrated philosophical and ethical questions and arguments. it's a reflection of human nature, as philosophical, ethical, and moral disagreements are often solved through violence in our real history as well. I was playing those games as a kid going through puberty, and still as a grown ass adult, and they've got me thinking about history and our place in it more than any TV show or movie (besides The Fountain. that was deep if you read into it). Video games are one of the few forms of media where a writer is free to ask the questions that society needs to consider, and the only ones who are interested are young men.

compare this form of media with media aimed at women and mainstream culture. it's all navel gazing bullshit designed to amp up insecurity, instill trust in the state, and make you into a better consumer. nothing but pathos with touches of postmodern ethos.

I do however try to enjoy sci-fi or fantasy books because I have to suspend my disbelief to watch those anyways. I lift weights and watch mma. Sometimes I play video games, but it's hard to find a game I can play consistently. I have been playing team fortress 2 for about 5 years, still haven't found a replacement for that. I watch films often, not movies, there's a difference. I listen to music and just ponder about stuff, analyzing the day and such. The real key to entertainment is to be mentally active. Don't mindlessly watch tv, find something that makes you think.

I still watch Big Bang Theory, but only out of respect for the first few seasons, when it was about a bunch of dorks trying to navigate society. Now it's formulaic and panders to the girl crowd. Great analysis by several of you, btw!

Game of Thrones is so fucking awesome I had to kick my habit. I literally had withdrawl symptoms at the end of season 2. I'm not allowing myself to indulge in it anymore until the story is complete and available on blu ray.

Other than that, I really don't watch too much TV. And yes, my TV watching is a blatant excuse to shut off the brain for a little while. After a long day, my brain needs to relax more than my body does.

Outdoorsy stuff is an option, but only really on the weekend. My point was mainly about the 2-3 hours you have to kill between getting home and going to bed.

Lastly, I do have a few books lying around. You're right, I should probably pick those up instead of the remote control.

Because those movies have not been made for your entertainment. If it's a romcom, the whole movie is for women. If it's just a subplot, then it's for the female audience to have something to look at. Otherwise they would get bored and would leave the cinema or switch the channel.

The romantic plots are there to cater to the female fantasies. That's what blue pill is. It's the female fantasy sold to us as truth. Lead female character gets finally married with the best guy, Prince Charming, after he has been extra nice to her.

Here's one for you: Remember "Pretty Woman"? How many street prostitutes with a golden heart look like Julia Roberts and get married to wealthy investment fund handsome guy? That has a one in a billion chance of happening, but there's a blockbuster movie telling women, that it's possible. The closest I know of is elite call girls getting the offer to become exclusive.

I watch cartoons and anime, read SF novels and comics and play Retro games, i.e. MegaMan and Little Samson and Final Fantasy, spin my vinyl (house DJ), and fuck bitches. Though, because of the holidays, I've lost control of the little soft harem that I had because I don't buy gifts.

I'm Black, so it makes everything I do sound cool and hipsterish, instead of nerdy to hoes, even though I'm 34 yrs old. I do the same shit now that I did as a ten year old. I just have my career to back it up.

Not trying to brag, but it is what it is… and I capitalize upon it.

Tl;Dr I'm still the same guy, just never went beta with it.

turn off the tv. watch some comedians instead, there are some damn good redpill comedians out there (seth macfarlane, bill burr, oldies like george carlin and bill hicks). This is pretty much all I stare at the big screen for. Theres some classic movies too. Listen to good music, as with movies you usually have to go back in time to find anything decent, avoid mainstream, (with the internet this is easily done these days.)

Find some hobbies, an instrument, a craft of some sort, travel, read, learn, cross country, exercise.
