Age: 27, 6'1'', 165 lbs. Wife: 28, 5'3, 105 lbs. Both employed making 100k+, however wife has significant more financial power in our relationship. Married for 1.5 yrs, in relationship for 6, no kid.

Hello mates, I've been in a long-term relationship with one woman for 6 years, and sometimes I feel that I hit the jackpot. However, I recently feel more and more powerless in our relationship. Details below, thanks for reading.

She was a student from mainland China when we met in college. I noticed her because during the many classes we took together, she always sat at the front rows prepared to answer prof's questions. I was no Chad and she was not like other girls I knew. She was extremely diligent about studying, humble and well liked by all her professors. I brought her as a friend to my family's Sunday dinners, and we started dating shortly afterwards.

She has invested in our relationship in a financial way. We moved in together in 2016, then married in 2017. There was no proposal, we just unilaterally decided to become official. She 'would rather spend money on traveling than on wedding', so we got married in the city hall. Upon moving in together, she immediately transferred her share of one year's worth of rent to our joint account. She also paid for most of the furniture with no complaint as I was in between jobs and tight on cash. It helps that she has a million+ dollar brokerage account (90% was gift from her parents), and she actually put that into our joint account. Although to my understanding, she would want the half mil back if we divorce. The past Christmas, she gifted half of the equity in an investment property to me 'as a gesture to provide a sense of security' (her words).

I almost feel she is the complete opposite of women described on some platforms: she is capable but kind, lives the 'I love you but don't need you' mindset. She is financially independent, emotionally stable, well loved by my family, encourages me to socialize with female colleagues and plays fair in the relationship. She even cleans the toilet from time to time (not that she liked it, but she felt it was 'fair' that she cleans it too)

However, Since browsing stories of more experienced men, I come to realize that after some time, she might grow out of her idealistic 'love' bubble and eventually expect me to accumulate wealth equivalent to hers, or get higher degree (like PhD) than hers, or obtain higher social status. After all, it’s highly unlikely that I found an unicorn. I am confident about my career, but I may never bring my net worth to her level without some luck or large inheritance. Furthermore, she has been applying to MBA programs and will likely get admitted by one of the top schools, which may only exacerbate the imbalance.

According to TRP’s rule, I’m definitely the one who has less leverage in our relationship. This is a shitty feeling. I don’t fear a divorce, and I might actually gain financially if it should happen. But I fear I might lose my dignity overtime, feeding on my own fear that she might eventually cheat on me with a better man.

I doubt lifting is the key to maintain frame in my case, because I can't recall a single time when she showed interest in male physiques. She has always been attracted to intellect. It’s been difficult due to her being objectively smarter and more diligent than me. I started lifting half a year ago and she was happy to see that, but I witnessed no change in sexual life.

And about sex - At the beginning of our relationship, she would compromise to some kinky sex, but in the past years she has been very frank about not liking being in submission and often gets turned off when I tried to initiate kinky sex. It seems she’s fine with just vanilla sex. She’s never been a very sexual being since we met when she was a virgin, and I think that has to do with her culture and upbringing.

As you can probably tell, I didn't have many relationship experiences. I had one serious relationship before her. and I was her first serious relationship. It’s hard to find a place to discuss these male specific issue without being judged. I appreciate all replies. Thanks.
