I know how to dress well. I wear a bespoke suit when I travel for work. I wear a fitted blazer when I go out to dinner. Dressing well is not a problem.

But at home I have dogs and kids, and that means dog hair and kid slobber on my clothes (I have baby spit up on my shirt right now, it's a daily occurrence). I take my son hiking most days before dinner. All of this dictates practical, low maintenance, and relatively disposable/inexpensive clothes. Now, you can still make this look good, but it's harder.

Do you wear expensive/dressy clothes at home, and just do a lot of dry cleaning? Or do you dress down to more practical but still nice clothes?

I have a second complicating factor, I live in a beach community where it's often warm. I sweat easily, which is not stylish. Because of this I wear shorts a good bit. This is typical here. I used to wear jeans year round, but I found it made me stand out, and sometimes in a negative way.

My typical attire is Clark's boots, Levi's jeans, and an untucked button down or polo shirt during cooler months. I switch to flip flops (stylish ones, as much as that exists), tan cargo shorts, and untucked polo in summer. I try to pick more off-duty cop or ex-marine styles (like boots in winter and cargo shorts in summer) and colors (earth tones) vs. more preppy styles (like boat/tennis shorts/shoes) and colors (seersucker/cranberry/madras shorts).

Any advice on dressing well while still maintaining practicality with kids is appreciated. Any suggestions on improving my "uniform"?
