Gentlemen, I need your advice. I had a huge fight with my LTR over something truly inconsequential. She started screaming at me because she didn’t like my arguments and also verbally attacked me instead of engaging with my arguments. I snapped and yelled at her to stop screaming at me. She left. I was very upset, getting yelled at for no reason is pretty bad, but I have previously told her not to yell at me for any reason. It’s one of my boundaries. I am always civil. Unexpectedly, she returned. I asked if she wanted to apologize. Instead, she asserted that she did nothing wrong and when I told her that nobody gets to treat me like that, she left again. I’ve had a pretty shitty couple of days. I have never met such hostility from a woman before, especially not without cause (she was in a bad mood because of unrelated things though) and actually, I ended up calling a domestic violence hotline that night (only to be told it’s just for women). We have had contact again but when I wanted to talk about it she said she was busy. I’ve had a rough time to leave it behind me and reset each day. It traumatized me so much, I’ve started smoking again. What’s your take on this? Things were going well, I kinda’d like to turn back time and not have started that damned unimportant discussion. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone that posted. Really solid advice and wake-up calls that I desperately needed. I will apply myself to it. God bless all of you.
