Address the behavior immediately as it is happening in a direct way, and don't hold grudges - my guess is that she isn't arguing in bed as she's cuddling with you, so why are you waiting until then to try to covertly show her your disappointment?

Taking action with the primary goal to "withhold affection" is the wrong mental model. As others point out, this is passive aggressive and operating in her frame.

The correct perspective is that the high value man has has many worthwhile, interesting, and entertaining ways he can spend this time, and many interesting people eager to engage in these rewarding activities with him. If engaging with your wife is not among these, because of her bad or boring behavior, the high value man will naturally shift more of his time and energy to more rewarding activities and people, and spend less with his wife. Not to punish his wife, but to get the most out of his own life. He does not withhold affection or act unpleasant with his wife when he is with her, but he is just with her less often because he is busy with other, more rewarding, activities and people.

If you don't have more rewarding things to do than hang out with a grumpy, withholding, or unpleasant wife, your focus should be on changing this, not on playing mind games with her trying to alter her behavior. The high value man doesn't waste his time on mind games. He is always pleasant and rewarding to spend time with, but only those people who are also pleasant and rewarding for him to engage with will get much of his valuable time.

You are withholding affection as punishment.

You think it’s “effective” but it’s not, not in the way you want it to be.

This is a harmful tactic. It’s purely ego driven. It sets a bad mental precedent for YOU, in addition to causing other issues for her and your relationship.

Does this sound like a tactic that men use, or give a fuck about? Emotional manipulation is the domain of bad parents and catty women.

Find positive ways to reinforce good behaviour. Get back to abundance.

Withholding affection is a dangerous tactic when you don’t know WTF you’re doing. Time/attention does not equal presence/affection.

“The general idea is to start ignoring her for bad behaviors and rewarding her with your attention and good will for her good behaviors. The trick is you need to limit your withdrawal of time, attention, and good will (“presence” and “affection”) ONLY for denials of sex, not usually for other “bad behaviors.”
