I'd keep a journal, both personal and financial. The personal one is NOT for emotional venting. The personal one is for you to record your daily interactions. Do not lie on it, 6 years down the road you'll thank yourself. It will actually help keep yourself in check and maintain frame if you haven't mastered it.

I'd review those notes bi-weekly at the very least. Weekly is preferred.

Keep receipts that involve the baby or her. Write little notes on them regarding the hows and whys.

Even if your relationship with her is pleasant it's better to always have documentation. Imagine her demanding you spend more money on the baby when in reality you're the only one really spending money on it? Now you whip out your documents and go through them.
