How do you differentiate between the advice from LARPers vs. the guys who actually know their shit?

I base my knowledge mostly on my own experiences right now and I can tell who is a neckbeard wannabe "alpha", they act very aggressive, high and mighty, 90% of shit I read on TRP feels contrived. How I learnt: Book of Pook, The Slight Edge, No more Mr. Nice Guy and tons of practice. Practice is the most important, reading is only like 20% of success, you got to test the theory in practice. If your main goal is to be a womanizer IMO you don't need this sub, just read the Book of Pook, it covers all the important aspects and I guarantee that it works.

Base your learning on items included in the sidebar and recommended reading (NMMNG, WISNIFG, etc), and use that knowledge to filter the influx of information in the sub.

EC (and similar) flair used to be a reliable way to tell but they've been handing those out like candy over the last year or so, so not sure I put much stock in that now.

Easy, go out and apply, then compare the results.

The overthinking is the worst thing you can do to yourself, especially in your situation when you're still in cognitive dissonance.

As for here, read the more experienced guys aka EC's comments/posts along with the sidebar and tone down your ego. Of course, use rational thinking too.

A) What endorsed contributors say: Fnordsnord is personally one of my favorites because his advice helped me move the fuck on from my oneitis in a very effective manner.

B) The most upvoted comments in the thread: 7/10 times those are very solid pieces of advice

That said, the most important part of all of this is to apply these principles in PRACTICE. If you sit around mentally masturbating to what people are saying here, you won't be able to personally decipher which strategies work for you and which ones don't.

There's no reason to get too worked up about the quality of the advice.

A lot of results -- whether you're following so-called game, PUA, TRP, whatnot principles -- come from simply getting more engaged with the world. Half the useful advice is basically cognitive-behavioral therapy. For example, pretty much all the beginner stuff on approach is CBT, just learning that rejection and people's opinions of you aren't the end of the world.

The most problematic posters on here, in my experience, are the ones who insist that some issue X is an endless challenge because Y. You'll see people who just don't want to risk themselves socially, or they like their nasty little ego defense mechanisms too much to give them up.

On balance, field testing is everything. If you read an idea and it seems worth trying (not entirely stupid and won't land you in a jail cell), test it out.

Half the fun of gaming other people is just seeing what clicks and what doesn't.

Also, a lot of the time just being the person who starts a conversation is winning. People hate to initiate social contact, and they appreciate the folks who save them the trouble. Even a small bit of initiative will beat more than half the field.

None of this shit's rocket science, but a lot of it calls for setting aside your ego.

I'm pretty fresh to TRP, but I definitely noticed one trend - on the manosphere everyone is the most red-pilled guy on the block and the rest has no idea what the fuck they're doing. Or at least so people claim.

Doesn't matter.

You don't actually need to know if I am the baddest dude ever, or a very clever Labrador retriever typing with its nose... because I don't expect you to take anything on faith.

I don't have flair and am still a relative newbie, but the advice I give is based on my own experience and/ or filtered through the red pill learnings I've picked up from sidebar and other red pill sources within the manosphere. It's free and "take it or leave it", and I'd expect any reasonable person to use discretion when considering it.

For the most part I'd say you should not listen to people who try to advice you to do things that are typical for the anger phase, that advice you to do things that will isolate you from human interactions too much (never LTR, forget your friends, go monk mode for every problem you face) and that want to sell you checklists as guarantees for success.

Once you've got the basic principles down, you're going to figure out who's giving solid advice and who is not. I find the The Rational Male (blog, not the books) the most useful to understand the red pill principles. But since that is a long read, too complex to understand every aspect immediately and takes a lot of time, a big bunch of users don't do it at all or just scratch the surface.

But don't listen to me, because I constantly get down-voted for telling people to take responsibility, call them out on stupid oversimplifications of complicated concepts and for not petting their egos. Oh, and every once in a while, for writing comments you misunderstand if you don't think about them.

That's why you need to read the side bar.

If you've read it all, you know which guys are talking about things grounded in proven theory, and which guys that are just making shit up as they go.

You can't tell just by reading it.

But you can tell a little by reading it and seeing the general discussion around the concept, what other people say, what the main objections are.

And you can tell a lot by actually going out into the world and testing ideas and theories and finding out what's applicable in your own life.

And then you can figure out which ideas are most relevant to you, make up your own mind, and if you have real insight you can come back and share it with everyone else.

That's about it.

You can trust anything the EC's tell you. Other than that, I'd avoid all the shiny new posts and stick with the sidebar, internalize it. After a while you can trust through the bullshit yourself
