Awhile ago, I was looking for self help stuff on reddit and found you guys. I quickly found out that - as a straight female - I wasn't really in the demographic, but stayed subscribed because there are a few good confidence hints on here that can be applied to both genders. I've found some stuff on here helpful, but the subreddit as a whole isn't really helping my opinion of men in general. While growing up, I was often told by my mother (who was not overly unhappily married for half of my childhood) that men are "only out for one thing". I've internalized this thinking and I can't seem to shake it no matter how hard I try, and it often seems to be proven right (possibly because it's all I'm open to seeing, but that's another matter) . In all honesty, this subreddit isn't helping me change this opinion with all this talk of pickup techniques, k-closes and f-closes.

So seddit, after all that, here's my question: are all men just out there for sex? Do you care about having meaningful connections with women?

Tl:dr: Lady with confidence issues, no faith in men and a history of bad experiences with men wishes to know is men are assholes or if they give hoot about romantic connection.
