Facebook chat... I'll talk to a girl only with the intent of leaving the conversation and getting off facebook to do something interesting.

Real facebook game comes to posting witty/ballsy comments on her wall that most guys would be afraid to post, and then carrying that into a flirty convo. For example, there was this girl who is really into photography, so I post something about wanting to do a photo shoot in the snow involving me wearing scantly clad attire.

Another Facebook thing I've started to do... if I see a girl posts something interesting as her status, instead of commenting about it, I'll give her a text or call and have a real conversation. I even do this with girls I'm not pursuing, because it really helps me build more personal relationships.

I used FB chat to talk to a girl. Moved on to skype. Then phone. Eventually she invited me to her NYE party and i got drunk as fuck. Well bascially she was into me and shit tested me by asking if i would bang her freind (HB8) i said yes. She gets all female mad and shit, but doesnt show it. So the other girl says to have a threesome, we all say yes. But my friend said i had to get more drunk. I Black out. Turns out we didnt bang because some other girl was watching and it was weird.

Now i dont drink anymore

I've been wondering, what is so special about FB Chat? There's something like MSN (okay, Windows Live), why would you use Facebook?

depends. i successfully reeled in my last relationship (HB7.5) through IMing. same concepts apply. be cocky, funny, aloof (only sign in rarely) and always end the conversation. the anti-facebook crowd is largely over thinking being friendzoned through its use...

It's difficult to build attraction over FB, but you can certainly build comfort. Especially moving from an online contact to meeting in person, an hour or so of talking about current events, music, movies, etc can go a long way towards breaking the ice. That way you can skip the whole "get to know you" conversation when you meet up, and get straight to enjoying each other's company.

When I was a senior in high school (about 3 years ago) I sent a facebook message to my ex girlfriend. I managed to rope her in over messages, AIM, and texts, and then we had a pretty satisfying relationship for a little while. I'd say this is an exception though and I'd only do this if I was a desperate high schooler.

A pre-seddit experience I had: FB chat got me laid. I had met this HB8 at a birthday party, and she seemed really cool, but I kept an interest up in a HB9 the entire time instead of chasing after HB8... when I went home that night HB8 added me to FB. A week or so later we chatted and agreed to meet, and right there in the parking lot, bam.

The rule is as everyone says, do not make chatting online a regular thing. Employ as much brevity as possible, and things will generally go for the better.

I keep two separate facebook accounts: One for family, old high school friends, work colleagues, etc. the other for pickups.

Amazingly my "normal" FB regularly recommends adding my pickup FB to my friends list. I have no clue how it connected these two, since I have no common friends between the two, and it uses two different e-mail addresses, etc.

If you're getting friend-zoned, you're not doing something right. At some point you're forgetting what you've learned here and reverting to AFC. I don't mean this as an insult, it happens to all of us. You just have to stay in the game, and rapidly get her to meet up with you in person. There's so little that you can do via text. Also, her seeing your grandma posting on your wall doesn't help your chances too much!

FB chat does work as a way to lead up to meeting in person. When I meet a girl I will often get her to friend me on FB if we didn't quite manage to reach a point where it felt natural to ask for her phone number but I still want to keep in contact with her (or if she was with a guy at the time I was talking to her, etc.). Then it takes a couple short FB chat sessions to reach a natural level of comfort to where you can easily ask her to hang out.

I don't know if this really counts, but I knew a girl in highschool, and she found me last week on facebook. We've been chatting, and it turns out she had a huge crush on me 6 years ago. We're currently dating :)

I think girls tend to be a bit more flirty online so you just need to step it up a notch and make it slightly more sexual. But yet again, I don't use IM or FB to actively flirt. I only use it to arrange dates or send a cheeky message now and then.

That depends. Take the following situation: You met the girl in person a few times, you notice there is attraction, but then she has exams followed by going to another country as part of an exchange program. Not enough time to get anywhere with her beforehand. What about keeping in touch using facebook until you can meet again? Of course once that's possible you'd only use facebook to arrange an activity, and then just see where things go

In that case it seems good to have some interaction using facebook, say once every two (three?) weeks, so you won't get out of her mind. Thoughts?

In normal situations, I'd only use facebook chat to arrange something in real life.

I disagree here. Be funny and openly sexual and you will not get friend-zoned. STILL not an optimal way to pick up, but you can use it to set up dates, etc for sure.
