And what is stalking anyway?

A couple of years ago I was summer camping. There I met the most beautiful woman in my life. Blonde, thin, with captivating blue eyes. She was there with a friend that looked a lot like her.

I summoned up the courage and talked to her. She was very enthusiastic and stared into my eyes smiling. It seemed she might have liked me. I gave her and her friend some tips about the place and the nightlife and went to sleep because I was tired that night. She told me we'd talk tomorrow.

I heard them returning late. Next morning I saw her friend and said good morning. She seemed a little grumpy. She sat at her table alone. I guess her friend was still asleep inside the tent.

I did not want to bother her so I went to sit alone in my tent and wait for the other girl to wake up. I think a full hour passed and I was still waiting for her. I was planning to talk to her, and who knows, if there was a vibe, we might have even gone out together.

It is then when I thought to myself, what am I doing? This is the definition of stalking. I am sitting here, not because I want to, but because I'm waiting for a girl. I felt guilt and shame and immediately left. I went to sit at a common area near by.

About an hour later I saw her and her friend leave for the beach. We never managed to talk, not until I packed up and left the camp, and to my surprise, I found her waiting for me outside to say goodbye.

So was I stalking her when I was waiting for her to wake up? What counts as stalking and what doesn't?

These days we get so many messages from social media about men being inappropriate, that it is impossible to know right from wrong.
