You should read the book "What Every BODY Is Saying." The author describes this stance as too aggressive and confrontational. He describes it as a posture that police officers use when entering a room where they expect a suspect to attack them.

So in other words, no, not really something you want to use in social situations.

Sure we can call agree that crossing arms is a no-no.

Now that I know, when I see someone with both hands down and their fingers spread wide open, I can't help but think PUA.

I'd say do what makes you confortable, confortable if better than awkward.

Just try to walk around or stand around with your hands at your sides. Use them when you talk, a little bit. If you practice this and are mindful of it, in time, it doesn't feel weird anymore.

Let me just say though that everyone, absolutely everyone, feels this way, I believe. If you ever look around the room you will notice 80% or more of guys have at least one hand in their pocket, or something other than just a natural relaxed pose.

As long as you keep an open stance and you don't fidget too much. You want to let people know you're not timid or not confident.

I would actually say that hands on hips can be good for attraction. It is a dominant posture, and dominance is attractive to a woman.

Use your hands for gesturing and physical contact. You shouldn't have your arms/hands constantly in one position, even if it's at a relaxed position by your sides.

You should be doing the things which you are least comfortable doing. Settling into your comfort zone and lazily acting cool will get you little more than the admiration of the uncool. Being loose and confident no matter what your body contortion happens to be is what you are missing. Pushing oneself to do what is uncomfortable is how one grows and learns.
