IMO boastful is worse than being cocky cos people boast in order to mask their insecurities.
AND being cocky is worse than having quiet confidence for the exact same reason, except that now you're better at masking the same insecurities.

Boasting shows urgency. = not preselected

Cocky/funny shows patience. =preselected

Boasting is trying to increase the girls interest level with logical reasoning as to why you are such a big catch, which makes the girl think you can't do better than her.

Cocky/funny is being fun in the present moment whether she likes it or not, without feeling pressure to sell yourself, which generates emotions that lets the girl know you have or can generate better or hotter options.

Cocky means you're confident and self-assured. Women love that.

Boasting means you're insecure cause you're trying to impress her. Women hate that.

You've gotten some good comments already, but I don't think any of them quite hit the nail on the head...

Cocky - How you carry yourself. Assuming interest. Assuming success. Confident in your abilities because you have a track record that lends itself to you being successful again in the future.

Boastful - How you describe yourself. This is something that is done to try and convince others of your abilities, often because they haven't acknowledged those abilities, or because you're trying to convince yourself as well.

People who are good at something often do not brag about how good they are at that thing. A perfect example is the famous interview between Tiger Woods and Curtis Strange where Tiger says that "a victory would also be nice too", in his rookie year of playing during his first pro tournament - he would go on to win. Tiger was not boastful in his confidence - he was very matter-of-fact, because he knew his abilities. He did not care to convince somebody who did not believe in him; he convinced them with his actions.

boastful is selfish, self centred behaviour and cringe

cocky =/= confident. it equals arrogant and is also cringe. Women in clubs etc find this attractive

confident and self assured is what the better women find attractive

Boastfulness is neediness. There’s no humour in it, only desperation.

Cockiness is confidence. It’s cheeky, self-aware and doesn’t beg for attention.

Boastful people tell a joke that bombs and feel bad for themselves because they failed to get a laugh.

Cocky people tell a joke that bombs and feel bad for the other person because they didn’t get to enjoy the joke.

Both aren't great but boastful is worse because you're trying to prove yourself. You boasting is literally you telling everyone how great you are.

When you're cocky you're not necessarily proactively telling everyone about yourself.

Btw, it's called "Cocky-FUNNY" for a reason. There's a difference between just being cocky and being cocky-funny.

Being cocky is just arrogance.

Being cocky-funny is when you're only acting cocky to be humorous, not because you're actually full of yourself.

A tall man doesn't need to lift his toes to make himself appear look tall because him being tall is self-evident. If he does it, it must mean he is not tall. That's the problem with being boastful. Tell me what you brag about and I'll tell you what you lack.

Cocky is a playful way of showing certianty in yourself without needing to be seriosu about it, almost like you are being humurous and self-aware enough to joke about it. It's more about playfully exxagerating your qualities in such a way that people know you are just playing rather than being serious.

If you said to a girl: "i know you love this sexy dad bod and all this sexy belly fat, so just stop resisting ok" that's being cocky in a non-serious playful way cuz you are braggin about having a dad bod which is not something people would normally considered sexy, so they know you are just joking or at least they feel you must be joking However you don't actually say yo uare joking for sure, so it also comes across as confidence without being too full of yourself, bur rather that you simply have accepted yourself as you are with flaws and all.

If you also said to a woman: "oh my god, you and me are the sexiest couple right now", that's also playful cockiness, it works when you include her in the statement.

If you however told her: "i am so sexy, you are so lucky to be with me" then it sounds more like you are boasting or being arrogant which is more likely to turn her off, because like i said, if she is lucky to be with you, there is no need to announce it, it should be self-evident.

So it's basically following the rule of cinema: "Show, don't tell". In other words, don't brag about things that should be self-evident and that way you won't appear boastful. And if you wanna be plafully cocky brag about things that don't make sense to brag about or do it in such a way that's it's obvious you are exxagerating and not being serious.
