Some is good. Others are Grade A Douchebag advice.
[–]mcparker7312 points 12 years ago [recovered] (14 children) | Copy Link
I agree. I don't think everything this post states is necessarily wrong, but it should be worded a different way. It seems a bit misogynistic, and i use that word very sparingly because I am a huge egalitarian.

Why not give good advice in a way that is respectful to all? This sub is about attracting and seducing women, not "owning" them like dogs.
[–]ryanman 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Okay, I think this whole post is actually mostly ignorant douchey bullshit but you're totally missing what OP is saying.
Only putting out advice that is "respectful to all" doesn't help anyone. And sorry, but some ways of picking up women and keeping them either completely contradicts or at least disagrees with modern feminism theory. That's it.
So as OP said, this advice and most advice in this sub comes in three flavors:
If we only post stuff that SRS agrees with this isn't a sub about learning or trying new things, it's just another talking head in the spread of information people already get plenty of every day.
[–]TheIronPolak-1 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link
It's one thing to be unorthodox, and another to be disrespectful. Richard La Ruina does a good job of discussing escalating with kino without crossing into the territory of sexual assault. Whoever wrote these commandments does not. (See XIII)
[–]ryanman 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
We can only say the same thing so many times. You think touching someone's lower back without a notarized contract is sexual assault, while I don't.
If you subscribe completely to modern feminist theory the best way for you to pick up women is to sit inside a steel box with your phone number and hope someone calls it, while avoiding direct eye contact so nobody feels like you've visually assaulted them.
The reality of human relationships is always going to differ from what's in your worldview. I don't think the idea of "being too bold" is even close to the most offensive thing on this list.
[–]TheIronPolak0 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You're skewing what I said to make it look like I'm against any physical contact... If you're going to tell me what I think, at least make sure it's correct. The commandments didn't list anything about touching someone's lower back. I believe it suggested "touching her inappropriately."
I don't subscribe to modern feminist theory. I just don't like assaulting people.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I really admire La Ruina, he is very genuine and his kino is very natural and seeks to make people comfortable around him. Going beyond seduction, physical contact is essential to human bonding, and learning to be comfortable with it will help you in almost all social situations.
In this sense, kino does not mean be a creeper and touch people inappropriately. Kino is the way in which you utilize physical contact to display compassion, sincerity, affection, and confidence, which can take a lot of different forms in different settings.
One form of kino escalation may be totally inappropriate with one girl in one setting but totally fine in another. The way you escalate is also a big factor in making the situation comfortable.
I remember a family friend of ours was a very successful businessman. The first thing I noticed about him was that he NEVER spoke with a person one-on-one unless he was touching them in some way (I don't mean constantly touching, just that he used kino in social situations with everyone, men, women, young, old, close friends, and people he just met).
For example, when he came up to someone he would hug them or give them a handshake, ask how they were doing, respond and put his hand on their arm, or shoulder, and be consistent in this way.
What I concluded from this was that by touching other people he conveyed that he was sincere, and that he was completely interested in what they had to say. Furthermore it demonstrated that he was emotionally invested in whatever sort of bond he was going to form with that person over a short period of time.
That's what kino should be about at its core, and in many situations this will extend to sexually charged kino and still be appropriate, but I always keep that perspective on the idea of kino as a way to create a bond with someone.
[–]TheIronPolak1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I agree wholeheartedly, and I try to employ this type of kino throughout my social interactions.

It's not about the advice itself. It's how it is presented. The posts refers to women wanting and needing a dominant male in their life so that they can serve him. That's not true and we know it. Women and men are, well they should be, equal. Do not treat someone like they are lower than you.
Once again, not the advice. Merely how the advice is presented.
[–]TheIronPolak2 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
I actually refrained from downvoting, because it is technically a constructive post. That's why I voiced my opinion in the form of a comment. While there is some value in the advice, I think it may also lead some beginners or PUAs-in-a-rut to adopt a more misogynistic attitude, which would actually be COUNTER-productive, should there be another alpha in the group with a strong, but respectful frame. There was a post sometime this past week about such an instance, when OP won the girl over because he held a strong frame that was actually kind as compared to the competing alpha in the group. I think a valuable lesson from your post is to not take shit from girls. On the flip side, not doling shit out to the females you pursue would be another good lesson to learn.

No worries. I'm sorry to hear you've had a bad day, and I genuinely hope it gets better.
Right, the translation was a good touch. And I agree, a lot of the basic principles of these commandments are present throughout this sub. I think the tongue and cheek nature of the writing somehow got lost in being taken out of the larger article or website it was originally found in. The important thing is that discussion is happening. It's good for people to think "well yeah I should definitely be aggressive about escalating with kino, BUT persisting when it's not wanted will probably not get me far." In thinking through why you may disagree with the denotation or connotation of a piece of advice, you can better discover how you would enact it effectively in your own life.
Oh shit, that was you! I loved that post, kudos. I agree, it's good to spice things up. I think the over-the-top nature of this post and your frustration with your day just turned a few folks off. I look forward to more of your posts

True. I do not want to be a douche, ergo...I only do some of these.
[–]Guacomaco 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As someone already said, some of this is douchey, but thinking about it in terms of my last relationship it is spot on. Douchery sometimes works. There are plenty of times when I should have completely blown of my ex when she was being a controlling bitch. Instead I was the needy bitch who apologized for getting upset about the fucked up shit SHE did. I'm not proud of how I was in that relationship, but I can certainly learn from it.
[–]ryanman -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
As someone already said, some of this is douchey, but thinking about it in terms of my last relationship it is spot on.
There is a fine line between self-respect and being douchey, and a lot of this post crosses it into the latter IMO.
Honestly man it's really more a question of picking the right girl. Being firm but fair about stuff. If your girlfriend's a controlling bitch this advice isn't going to help you. The reality is that you should just pick someone who just doesn't pull that kind of shit with any regularity. My first relationship had me getting in petty little fights twice a week. Now, if my girlfriend and I have to get heated about something more than once a month then it's really just not worth my time or effort.
If you make it clear you don't fuck with this bullshit from the get go then you'll either detract someone unworthy from dating you or approach it in a healthy way. It's just more important to choose your women correctly rather than try and fix one who's already a jerk.
[–]Guacomaco 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely, I feel the same way about the petty fights thing. Among many other aspects of relationships. If its not right, I'm ending it. I've come a long way since the ex I was referring to but at that point I wasn't great with women and I had low self confidence. Now that I've improved on my interactions with women I almost wonder if I'm being TOO picky.. I just have never met a girl to this day that lives up to my expectations so I wind up moving on to the next.

Irrational self-confidence will get you more pussy than rational defeatism.
This is the line that applies to you.
[–]ryanman 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think he meant it along the lines of "if you follow all these rules, you're not going to attract anyone worthwhile. Including referring to women as poon"
[–]Ben_KA 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
#1 and #5 should be struck, and replaced with one rule: "Don't be emotionally needy"
The ultimate example of this is as a guy who dates a girl openly. Especially if you are doing it because you are philosophically not a monogamist (vs. just some dude trying to "trade up" [hate that term but I hear it a lot]). I said "I love you" first in my last exclusive relationship and my most recent open relationship, and they were ecstatic to hear it.
Don't run around emotionally leaning on girls and telling every girl you sleep with that you love her. But if you're a confident, centered dude and you want to share your emotions honestly, there's no need to censor yourself. Vulnerability is cool.

Agree 100%. I really don't know why the white knight circle jerk is continuing when there are other subs to appease them. The OPs post is great and unless someone has actually been working on pickup they need to keep their mouth shut and realize this advice is helpful in many aspects of relationships not just limited to pickup.
Hell just looking back at my marriage there are many points the OP states that I wish I knew back then in order to keep the attraction alive.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That went from 0 to sexist in like two paragraphs.
Despite whatever protestations to the contrary, women do not want to be “The One” or the center of a man’s existence. They in fact want to subordinate themselves to a worthy man’s life purpose, to help him achieve that purpose with their feminine support, and to follow the path he lays out.
What the fuck?
Most of this shit is sociopathic.

[–]pschr 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think people overlook one important factor: the execution. This area, like any other, is dominated by the grey zone; nothing's completely black and white. These "commandments" work for me due to a lot of them are right up my alley, however, they may work for everyone if you adjust them to your own personality. It's sad to see people dismiss them entirely for being douchy.
[–]NightPhoenix35 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The first one was utter shit, so i didnt bother reading the rest... If you wait for her to say "I love you" first because you think she wants to feel like just another female...you are quite infantile.
I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware...you can be confident without being an utter douchebag. Being over confident is often a sign of insecurity, and that's not fooling anyone.

Is this...are you serious? Some of this stuff is hilarious.
If we're out in public on a date, and, let's say it's our first date and I don't know you very well, you start flirting with another girl, I'm just going to leave you there to flirt to your hearts content and never think about you again. I'll probably laugh at your social ineptitude while recounting the story to someone else. If we're in a long-term relationship and you flirt with a girl in front of me, I'm going to realize your emotional maturity level is pretty low and re-evaluate why I'm even with you. Flirting with a girl in front of me wouldn't make me jealous- it would just reek of desperation and fake-ness.
[–]ryanman 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
you start flirting with another girl, I'm just going to leave you there to flirt to your hearts content and never think about you again
It depends on the flirting. I don't think women get super wet at a guy openly trying to make a pass at another girl (surprise!) but having a little flirty banter with the server is usually actually a pretty good deal. Being able to lightly flirt with other women at a party shows at least that you're not a fluke or socially inept.
If your definition of flirting is just talking to try and fuck someone then yeah, you're right. But I think having a little bit of chemistry with everyone around you - male or female - makes you more attractive as a mate.
[–]Jaidelm 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This post right here typifies the sort of misogynistic, "Women are all the same creature, all following the same rules" mindset that causes men to fail not just in seduction, but in life. Your post is narrow minded, borderline stupid, and you fail to see the reasons why your approach occasionally works (if it does at all, and let's be real, it probably doesn't, because you probably don't actually interact with people in real life). You're leading people astray on false pretenses, and the fact that this subreddit has not risen up and bashed you down for your views is why I will be unsubscribing.
TL;DR OP is a terrible human being, and anyone who agrees with him even a little should be ashamed. Deuces Seddit.
[–]Gelnn 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You guys can bitch and wine about douchebaginess and respect and misogyny all you want but the underlying facts of male to female psychology are adhered to in this post, for the most part.
[–]im_fucking_zeez_brah 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wonder if this applies to all women or only the older ones that have more experience with guys and are considered higher value.
Being 18 and having a 17 y/o girlfriend I feel like a lot of these are really douchey and I'd stop being myself and are completely unnecessary. Maybe it's not the actual advice it's just the way it's worded on this subreddit that makes it seem like my girlfriend is not someone I dearly love but someone I just 'game' to keep attracted to me
[–]LouisWinthorpIII 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Instead of trying to remember tips that worked for other people, probably in completely different manner and situation, I believe it would be easier to just relax and be yourself. Both men and women understand when you try to play little tricks like this and create situations to judge their reactions. If you want a real tip, do what you think YOU would do in a situation with someone you like. Obeying tips like this will cause you to stray away from being yourself. they will find out who you really are eventually, so let them know who that is right away. On a side note, this persons list is disgusting, I really hope nobody tries this shit crikey.

Don't forget the part about her wanting nothing more than to subordinate herself to a worthy man’s life purpose and to follow the path you lay down for her.
[–]alexbrain 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"II. Make her jealous
Flirt with other women in front of her. Do not dissuade other women from flirting with you. Women will never admit this but jealousy excites them. The thought of you turning on another woman will arouse her sexually. No girl wants a man that no other woman wants. The partner who harnesses the gale storm of jealousy controls the direction of the relationship."
That's terrible advice.
[–]bl1y 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Do not say you’re sorry for every wrong thing you do. It is a posture of submission that no man should reflexively adopt, no matter how alpha he is. Apologizing increases the demand for more apologies. She will come to expect your contrition, like a cat expects its meal at a set time each day. And then your value will lower in her eyes. Instead, if you have done something wrong, you should acknowledge your guilt in a glancing way without resorting to the actual words “I’m sorry.”
"If you're going to get mad at me every time I do something stupid, then I guess I'll just have to stop doing stupid things."
Sadly, I think Homer Simpsons has figured this out better than you. If you find yourself having to apologize a lot, the problem isn't the apologizing, it's that you keep doing stupid things.
