The best thing to do is to just get out there and talk to them, but I'd say get out there and do what you want to in terms of hobbies. People are very attracted to people in their element. If you love to dance, go clubbing and so on. Oh, and if you think you're too insecure to date, (social life, weight, etc) try to work on them, but dont be afraid to date while you do it.

While I'm a guy, it's been explained to me that dating for men is like looking for water in a desert. It can be hard to find an oasis anywhere! For women, it can be like trying to find water in a swamp. Water is all around you, but hardly any of it is fit to drink.

Don't be afraid to shop around a bit, and don't settle for crappy men. Of any race.
