maybe u didn't like it but it doesn't sound meaningless
[–]Odd-Opening-3158 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
nope, it's not that i dont' like it. I honestly don't really like nor hate it. I just think it's inaccurate and misleading. That's my beef! I think it gives a very narrow minded and misleading view of the male-female dynamics, condenses complex relationships between men and women in to meaningless words that fuel misogyny and gives young impressionable men wrong ideas.

Yep. Exactly

You did not attempt to challenge the post what’s so ever. You just read it and it didn’t “feel good” so surely it must be bad, you must be a woman
Go ahead and downvote me just for saying that 😄

You’re right, it’s not meaningless. It’s nefarious

Women want sex because women want sex. Men want sex because men want sex. How about that
I personally don't think lesser of a woman if we're having sex on the second date. And a lot of women who are into you will.
[+]DebtMoist4096 -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Yes true but:
A man giving sex has no value to a female, she already knows he wants sex, he could sleep with her a dozen times it would mean nothing.
The same way a women giving a man emotional attention without sex has no value to him. She could tell her she cares about him all day, but if she won't touch him or fuck him sexually it means nothing
Basically these conditions need to be met first, before anything else can be appreciated

This makes sense, but only from an objective perspective. You're going to get a lot of emotional downvotes from both sexes which is a funny paradox inside of the context of this post.
[–]meteorness123 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Where do you get these ideas from ? Of course a man giving sex has value to a woman. It feels good, releases endorphins through foreign touch that otherwise don't get released through masturbation, certainly not to that extend. Although I don't really like the idea of anybody "giving" sex. It's more about two people coming together who find each other so desirable that sex is the byproduct of that
A girlfriend giving me emotional support definitely has a lot of value.
[–]Speedsloth123 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly what I’m trying to get him to understand. I really get the feeling we’re arguing with an inexperienced 19 yr old here. Fundamentally what this all boils down to is that he doesn’t think women like sex. Kind of mind blowing that people believe this shit
[–]inspector_incapablo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He does think women like sex? I feel like you just want to misunderstand him because you either don't agree with him or he hurt your feelings with his statements.
[–]Speedsloth123 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link
This is a really damaging mentality, and pretty antiquated too. Viewing sex as something a woman gives you is commodifying something that should be a shared experience.
I think you’re really misunderstanding female sexuality. You said women give sex in order to receive emotional commitment. Don’t you think women want sex as well? Or is sex just something that women push through for the enjoyment of the man?
What about men? Do men not have emotions? I for one would like emotional commitment from my partners, even if it’s a fwb or open relationship. Men aren’t sex automatons who fake emotional investment to get their rocks off. Go live a little and talk to real women about what they want before you give more awful advice.
[–]the_torn_ultimatum 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I don't agree or disagree with everything in your post but commodifying sex is not an antiquated idea. It's still prevalent.
[–]Speedsloth123 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Oh you’re totally right, there are tons of people who still believe this crap. This post somehow got 20 upvotes. I mean that it’s an old, disproven idea rooted in sexism.
[–]the_torn_ultimatum 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The original post is edgy, but he's not entirely wrong. I think he could have added more qualifiers to help his argument.
I think his argument actually points more to how each sex RESPONDS to what is offered in a relationship.
A woman seeks and positively responds more to emotional support and a man likewise to sex. It's a primal response more rooted in biology and is agnostic of societal trends being socialized today.
[–]Speedsloth123 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
He was very clear about what he meant, and purposely used language that implies a power struggle between men and women, with sex as something paid to a man in exchange for emotional intimacy. Don’t try to twist his words into something more charitable.
That being said, despite the fact that your argument ditches the overt sexism, I think you’re still wrong. None of our actions are made in a vacuum that ignores social trends. Women, because of the possibility of getting pregnant and all that entails, are much more selective than men when it comes to having sex both evolutionarily and socially. A lot of people confuse that for having a lower need for sex.
In a relationship, sex and emotional intimacy are not mutually exclusive. One without the other is bad for either sex; it’s silly to try to figure out who needs which more. They’re both equally important, and in fact, I think it’s a bit of a category mistake to even assume that they can be separated like that. Even fwb situations have emotional intimacy of some kind. Nobody wants to fuck a robot.
[–]the_torn_ultimatum 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Dude, sexism is also a social trend. His post gets at the biological needs of both sexes. Even assigning labels in order to discuss dynamics is outside of simple biology.
Agree on your point about sex and women being more selective.
Disagree on your last note. If both halves want emotional-less sex, then it's not bad. Likewise, if both people only want emotional attachment, obviously not bad.
Also, there's gotta be half the world fucking each other without emotional attachment. Clearly you'd retract that statement, I hope.
Dude, sexism is also a social trend.
I agree with that of course. I think I rambled a little, it’s late. I’ll retract that statement about emotion in sex because I was using the term emotion in a different way than we’ve been using it, which is moving the goalposts a bit and wasn’t useful to my point.
I see what you’re getting at and it’s definitely a more palatable idea without OPs sexism. I think I agree with you, actually.
What we disagree on, and this is something that’s near impossible to verify, is the degree to which these tendencies are influenced by society and biology. The impact birth control had on the agency of women is huge, and we’re still finding out what culture can become now that women don’t have to contend with the possibility of caring for a baby every time they have sex.

I don’t know what to tell you to make you understand human relationships better except to reread my comment and genuinely wonder if you could be wrong. Because you really don’t understand women
[–]DebtMoist4096 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
I read your comment loud and clear, and as I stated men want emotional commitment, but it means nothing if sex doesn’t come with it and vice versa.
I want to be in a sexless relationship said no man..
[–]Speedsloth123 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ok in that case I’ll respond but I don’t have time to keep going with this very long. You really just have to start talking to women if you want to understand them better.
Women don’t want a relationship without sex either, unless it’s a friendship. When a woman decides to have sex with a man, part of the “value” a man is giving her is the sex.
Women are perfectly capable of emotionless sex. Fwb relationships aren’t just men holding emotions hostage. The successful ones are generally two people who want sex but for whatever reason, don’t want all the tie ups of a relationship. That being said, most human beings prefer to be having sex with someone they’re in love with
You’re right that when a man is attracted to a woman and she doesn’t want to have sex with him, it’s hard (pun intended). But you misunderstand the hundreds of valid reasons why a woman wouldn’t want to have sex with a man who she is emotionally invested in. Maybe he’s unattractive to her? Maybe she doesn’t trust him because of a troubled past? I promise you if a woman is emotionally invested in a man she finds attractive, she will always want to have sex with him.

I want to be in a relationship that's only about sex said a man two days before being dumped...
your idea is surely interesting but I don't think it applies to real life

Women don’t want to be in sexless relationships either…..
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
[–]mattgk39 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Nobody “wants” sex more. Women just generally have more and easier access to sex because in our current society men are generally expected to be the ones to pursue women.
[–]DebtMoist4096 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for posting this, that’s how I know I am wasting my time. Anybody who thinks women want sex just as much as men is an idiot.
Men are biologically wired to want more sex because we have higher testosterone period.
[–]mattgk39 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Dude you clearly just don’t understand women, or other human beings in general. You need to get outside more.

We will have to agree to disagree didn’t mean to insult
[–]the_torn_ultimatum 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed.
You make the point about biology but you're getting responses from people and the brain. Our culture is programmed to believe much of the opposite of what you arguing for here.
Your arguments are valid but could perhaps be clarified by using more language around what each sex RESPONDS to.
For example, a woman responds positively to a man if there's the proper emotional attention.
Men, responds positively to a woman who offers sex.
It comes down to less about what each sex gets or bargains from the relationship but more about how each sex RESPONDS to what is being provided in the relationship.
[–]mattgk39 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Jesus christ what a stupid take. Women want sex because they enjoy it just like men want sex because they enjoy it. Some women want commitment just like some men want commitment too. Different people want different things and your goal should be to find women who want the same thing as you, and want that from you. You’ve read too much PUA bullshit.
[–]DebtMoist4096 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
The fallacy that men and women are the same and not different. “Sigh like I haven’t heard of this before”.
Look bud this is golden advice right here, I feel sorry for you if you can’t wrap your head around it🤷🏾♂️
It’s just one of those thing where you can lead a horse to the water but you can’t force them to drink😄. Your lost.
[–]mattgk39 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Nobody said women and men are the same. But both women and men have emotions and desire sex and emotional intimacy.
Look bud this is golden advice right here
I literally laughed reading this. This is shit advice. Male/female relationships are not just power struggles where parties withhold something from the other party. At least not healthy ones. This is such an absurd and warped view that I really feel sorry for you.
[–]DebtMoist4096 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You are taking it to the extreme of course human beings are altruistic but we still have primal urges, enough to form a predicative pattern/framework around.
It’s not about getting power over your partner, its for when to know when it can be used against you.
I am starting from men want one thing first which is sex. Women like sex buts it is NOT the most important thing to them, commitment is. Sure the are exceptions but generally speaking this is the way things go
And yeah I meant to do that because I am being facetious, I just laugh at the people who will still struggle because they can’t take women off the pedestal for one day
[–]Demon_Slayer_9 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
My friend, you are falling for stereotypes. Just there a ton of women who want marriage before sex and a ton of men who want marriage before sex and there is also the opposite of women wanting sex and men wanting sex. It isn’t a fixed group rather a optional 1.
[–]DebtMoist4096 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Those are exceptions. Generally men want sex before they take a girl serious.
We can see this reflected in why the friend zone is unique to men and a booty call is unique to women. Both dynamics were so prevalent that they have become there own label/status
& please do not say women get friend zoned too, not at the rate men do, the friend zone is synonymous with men period.
[–]wizardofterra 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This dynamic is really only operative when two folks aren’t right for each other.
Ideally there would be a balance of both emotional investment and sex making for a good relationship
[–]AelfredRex 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Never turned a woman who wanted sex down, I'm guessing.
[–]Delicious_Ad_1853 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Let's assume for a second that all of that is true.
What's the point? Is this part of a strategy to get more sex? From someone who otherwise wouldn't want to have that much sex with you? That's not going to lead anywhere healthy, man.
[–]PuzzleheadedNote3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup thats pretty much as accurate as it can get on a general perspective
[–]Demon_Slayer_9 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Okay I will entertain this.
I don’t think what you’re saying is right. From what I understand you are saying women want emotional commitment and men want sex. Now I believe there are 2 groups people who want only sex and people who want commitment. 1 can be larger then the other. So let me make something clear for me a man I’m not having sex until marriage. I live in Canada but I am Muslim so my values on sex are different then most people from where I’m from.
[–]Appropriate_Ad3327 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For men, just be tall and getting the girl would be easy. If you’re short then it’s game over.
[–]Shadowfury957 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Is it against the rules to post a deleted OP? I'm assuming not but I may learn the hard way. I find myself agreeing with OP from my experience and understanding
OP "I was bored and thought I would drop some game on y'all, I will keep it brief.
There is a saying that women are the gatekeepers of sex while men are the gatekeepers of commitment. Some will say that today women are the gatekeepers of both, but lets just keep all things equal to get the idea. A guy in the friendzone is the equivalent of a women being a FWB or no strings attached sex.
When a man desires a woman they give women their attention. When a woman desires a man she gives him sex. The more a man desires a woman the more emotional investment he gives, while the more a women desires a man the more sex she gives. Each give what the other wants in an attempt to obtain their prime decretive. Men want sex from women and women want emotional commitment from men. Some relationships are one-sided. An ideal relationship is where there is a balance.
Men will not be rewarded with sex the more emotional commitment he gives, just as women will not be rewarded with emotional commitment the more sex she gives. The leverage/power lies in whoever readily concedes their imperative. Supply and demand, the more cheap something is the more worthless it is, that's why so many guys are not getting results with women because they give their attention away for nothing, and why women can not lock down the guy they desire because they put out so easily.
When you understand this dynamic it should become clear where you stand."
