Figure out the sort of smart you're looking for.
Figure out where that sort of places that sort of girl frequents.
Go to those locations and be prepared to kick game.

Honestly the gems of women aren't going to be found at any particular locations, these are going to be the ones you randomly encounter on some idle wednesday afternoon at the bookstore or skiiing in the alps. These girls are extremely career oriented normally and are constantly busy.

I just had a thought, I wonder about taking some part time (evening) classes at a school in the city and using that as a method of meeting hot students?

I have the same problem!! You know it may seem weird, but I've had some success meeting women in book stores (Barnes & Noble is good because most have a coffee area).

I also think going out near a college/university, will up your odds at finding an educated hottie.

Also, if you're into other things (yoga perhaps?), join a class.

Read your local university newspaper, or their website. My local paper has daily event listings for various lectures, readings, etc. And they're mostly free. Hmm.. I will have to do more of that myself.

But a lot of this stuff is baffling. Recently I saw a listing, something like "Dissertation reading: cellular transport mechanisms for sodium" at the local med school. I idly thought this might be a really good place to meet really really brainy women. But I would stand out like a sore thumb without a hospital ID badge, so the first question they'd ask is "what department do you work in?" What am I going to say? "I don't work at the hospital, I'm just interested in sodium."

I have a related question: where would one find nerdy girls? They're my favorite kind, but the only girls I tend to see in typical nerd hangouts are there with their boyfriends. Renaissance fairs are the best venue I could think of, but I haven't been to one recently to try it out. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Check this out: http://www.artafterdark.org/ Look for a similar event in your area. Basically, they set up a cultural theme party in the academy art museum where they serve drinks, have music and have food related to the theme.

This is the best venue I have found for meeting intelligent women who have their shit together. Even better than any of the cultural events I used to attend in DC. I'm currently dating a solid 8 I met there two weeks ago. We jumped in on the salsa dancing lessons together. She's beautiful, articulate, intelligent and owns her own business.

You can find them anywhere! But think in terms of numbers (as in a higher populated area, the better the chance),what you’re interested in, etc. If the girl keeps asking questions and is generally interested about anything then she will be worth going for! Hey, say you’re interested in a activity with a good bit of physical exercise and she happens to not be what you call hot (but has potential) then maybe give it a try.
