Not the worlds most exciting FR, but it still made my day as it's the second time I've ever, ever, talked to a girl with intent of getting her #. Serious. The first is in another FR i wrote earlier.

Over the past few weeks my boss has been having me run to a nearby office supply store to pick up various things. The cashier is this HB7 with gorgeous eyes. The first time i went in there, I made small talk, like asking her how her day was, but was too nervous/shy to try to push the convo further. However she smiled and broke eye contact and looked down often, which I took as good IOIs. I said i was tired and hungry but alright, she said she was also tired and hungry. "Don't you get a lunch break?" "Not yet" etc etc.

A week later i went in and she recognized me, smiled and looked down again. I was kind of in a rush and some additional AA meant that the convo/exchange wasnt very substantive, but she definitely remembered me.

This week, i've been kind of down for a number of reasons. I nearly decided against going on a vacation with some female friends as I feel like I'd rather not be a fourth wheel to their girl time...when i woke up, i realized a) i'm an idiot, why turn down a cheap vacation? there will be plenty of other girls where we're going and b) it's in two weeks, which gives me two weeks to improve my game and hit the gym starting right. the fuck. now. So i went into work thinking "i'll go to the office store when i have a break and get this girls #."

Walked in, broke away from the counter to peruse/work up courage. Saw that she had her head resting on her hands, elbows on the counter, so I opened from 15 feet away with "Hi. You look bored today." "Oh, not really...just tired again." "What, they never let you leave? Every time i come here you're always here. Two weeks ago, last week, and then now" "Haha, yeah, I sleep here too." "Well at least that makes the commute not so bad..."

I chickened and broke the exchange to ask her to get me something from behind the counter i needed. Somehow I got the conversation to talking about where she goes for lunch...i figured i could David Wygant it if she talked excitedly about a place she likes. Instead she said McDonalds, so i was like "Really? There are tons of better places around here, like Place X." A female coworker chimed in "Yeah, place X is good." HB7 asked if it was expensive, and i talked about how it may be a few more bucks, but it's so much more worth it and you dont feel bad like you do after mcDs. I said "look, i'll show it to you - give me your number and we'll go when you have your lunch break." She wrote it down without her name, and said "but i cant use my phone at work or ill get fired!" (dont remember how i responded) later i said "I bet i could guess your name" (it's on her chest...) and she laughed and pointed to it. I wrote my # down with my name, gave it to her, left, and texted her saying "Don't check this, youll get fired." She hasnt responded but i dont really care much, this was an exercise in destroying AA, not getting a date, and it's a step in the right direction. |

What i did right: Kept the exchange short and sweet. She has other customers to deal with and I felt like it would have been weird if i stuck around way past the original exchange (after all, im still a customer.) Unwittingly I was able to extend the convo by swiping the wrong card, one I'd cancelled, so i got an extra minute or two out of that.

What I need to work on: eye contact, especially when i'm SPEAKING. I tend to look side to side when im thinking of what to say. I need to speak slower and more deliberately. When nervous I speak faster and drop my language to a hypercasual, unarticulate, not quite ebonics but close to it style, esp when talking to people in teh service industry (this is irrational and a stupid habit i need to break.) Im mixed race so i can get away with it, but it isn't me and its fucking retarded. Lastly, I had a good excuse to get her number but it wasnt as natural as it could have been. I straight up asked her for her number, I'd rather convince her that she wants to give it to me first so that it's just an afterthought and she's more committed to following through on meeting again.

update: whoa thanks for all the love, i thought it was pretty boring/almost a no big deal kind of FR. she texted back and im working on arranging that lunch date for tomorrow ("kinda busy today, but text me when you get that 30 minute break and i'll take you over to place x...your arteries will thank me"). Honestly though im kind of wondering what to do in the sense that - i'm not interested in anything other than casually 'dating'/having a few flings right now, so if im getting girls numbers during daygame, it may just be for my skillbuilding rather than to set up meaningful interactions. On the other hand i have no problem forging ahead if i meet a girl at a party/in a situation where an f-close is understood to be a possible outcome. I considered not texting back for that reason - to not be a dick and get to know someone when my intentions arent really aligned with that kind of setup. Who knows, maybe i can build an entourage with legion_pua's idea and see how that pans out at night...
