You don't need to improve your conversational skills, you need to work on your listening skills. People love to talk about themselves. Be fun, energetic, and bold to open new girls, but get them talking.

Hijacking OP but the generic "people love to talk about themselves" seems to good for me to be true, and at least for me it doesn't work.

Yes, people "respond" to these questions (even if they are "open-ended") but that doesn't necessarily make them more comfortable with you (or make them like you).

At the end what gets them interested is what you tell about yourself.

Improv classes and comedy writing books
cold approach and talk to MANY women on a regular basis
look for topics that you are interested in that women are as well (food, travel, pets, music, tv, movies, adventure (hiking etc), etc).
There are many threads about this. Search them.

You need to get used to being around others in general, being friendly in general. I guess they call that exposure therapy, u do it slowly. Start with just smiling at random people and giving hi fives lol. Something like that, trust me it works. Start small. Call your mom, say hi. Get friendly bro

Be gentle, being gentle also often involves asking the same question the other person asked you. Like if she asks "Where are you from" You respond then even if it sounds dull you ask her back "Where are YOU from?"
Ask a lot of questions, be curious. People say "don't ask yes or no questions, otherwise the other person won't invest in the dialogue" this is true, however sometimes there just isn't any open question you can come up at that point, and yes or no question helps you gather information for new open questions. Last girl I approached at Uni the interaction was: Me: Ask any question. Her: Respond shortly to a stranger. Me: keep going. Her: all of a sudden become friendly and we talking our life stories.

Focus on asking questions and your own input to the conversation will come naturally. Also qualify her.
