You have posted 12 times in 8 hours and that is too much, too fast. If you post this much content in such a short time, it pushes other content off the front page. This is considered "flooding." At a certain point this becomes counterproductive for you too, your multiple posts start competing with each other, reducing their effectiveness at reaching readers.
We appreciate your enthusiasm for contributing to this forum, but please focus on quality, not quantity. You do not have to post everything today, seddit will still be here tomorrow.

You handled that nicely.

If all people (of reddit and rl) approached "confrontation " this way (both sides!) The world would be a happier place. You both impress me!
OP, woman here, very good point, and I definitely notice compliments like this!! I have heard I'm sexy many times...it no longer means a thing; however a man once told me that I was incredibly SENSUAL...that compliment stuck with me for years and years. :-)

GOOD point

I usually comment women on their nails. It always gets a surprised smile because it's just not something guys notice. I had an ex who was really into nails, so I learned a lot about them from her. It's not something I'm interested in, but I know enough about it that we instantly have something to talk about, and the conversation can flow from there.
[–]iammrwill 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What did your ex teach you? I really love the look of done nails on girls too. Especially when they grow them out (or attach fake ones) and paint them dark or black.

As a side note, glue-ons are unattractive to me.
[–]Orgalorgg 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Aside from being extremely tacky, they're also bad for your nails.

Complementary walk: I love the way you move.
[–]MrDixon1991 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Focus on tastes, interests, activities, etc. - i.e. things other than her body.
[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yet no guy every compliments them on it.
That's because they usually look hideous when they do that.
[–]IANAPUA_Yet 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Selection bias. They all do it, but you only notice the ones that look hideous. The countless others all seem "natural" to you.

How do you compliment a woman's walk?

"I like the way you carry yourself".
[–]BadHairDayToday 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Great post! I will incorporate this in my game. I'd like to add that giving a compliment creates a certain tension, so it's advisable to relieve that tension with a joke. Basically what Pull-Push does, but slightly different.
"You have a very captivating way of walking, it's casual yet purposeful"
"Oh thank you"
"Did it take a lot of practice?"
"Haha no!"
NO COMPLIMENTS, EVER
[–]anonymau5 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wouldn't form 3 be "you look nice in that dress" if the intention is to compliment the woman?
[–]Vehemoth 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"You look nice in that dress" = That dress makes you look better; you complement the dress' ability to amplify beauty.
"That dress looks good on you" = You make the dress look good; you compliment the style and decisions of the wearer.
[–]Tatayou 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nous because , you are saying that she is beautiful because of her dress while he says that the dress is beautiful because the is wearing it.
[–]asthebroflys 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Do not compliment her eyebrows.
She will know that you don't know a thing about eyebrows, and that compliment will come off disingenuous.
[–]xmaine 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I beg to differ

Disagree. I love eyebrow compliments. Makes me feel really good about myself
Girl here, if a guy complimented my eyebrows I would think he was trying to be funny. Like, "Your head has a nice shape to it", haha uh thanks? This might work on some girls, just not me.

I learn so much on here. Great post!
Oops, bad compliment. I meant you are very knowledgeable and your post is excellent.
Thanks

Form 1: I like that dress. Form 2: That is a nice dress. Form 3: That dress looks nice on you. Each 3 compliments are seemingly similar and innocuous. However each one carries a striking difference. Form 1 compliments yourself. Form 2 compliments the dress. Form 3 compliments the woman. From least to most powerful impact, Form 1 is the least powerful and Form 3 is the most powerful.

Form 1 is strong in that, it puts the conversation in your frame and comes across as dominant and confident - it's a tad too overused these days though. Form 3 is strong as well as it essentially does the same as Form 1, while appearing to be more discerning. If anything, Form 2 is the weakest as it only attempts to state a fact without addressing the relationship or connection between the two parties, and makes you look like a scrub.

Or... You could just have an original thought. The key is to compliment on things she has control over e.g. sense of humour, body language, conscious mannerism etc. not things she was born with or she didn't not acquire herself e.g. eyes or smile.
[–]Fallapitorius 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Complimenting the scenery around her has nothing to do with her, and saying you'd like to take a picture is just even weirder.
[–]james61795 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
One compliment that I give that is really easy to use is complimenting a girl's make up. This works especially well on girls that you see on a regular basis.
An example would be, "Your eyeliner looks exceptionally good today." You want to make sure that you add in exceptionally so that you are not implying that it doesn't look good other days and this also shows that you pay attention to her and the work that she puts in to her appearance.
A simpler way to put this: "Don't make a compliment about you." Never say "I like your smile." Instead, say "You have pretty eyes." The first example makes it about the person giving the compliment (I like ...) versus the second example, which makes it about the person receiving the compliment (You have ...).

I'd replace "That dress looks good on you" with "You look good in that dress." The compliment should be to her, not the dress.
[–]KROMExRainbow 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It is to her, though.
That dress looks good on you implies that she makes the dress look good.
You look good in that dress implies that the dress is making her look good.
