Even if you got rejected, be proud of yourself that you had to balls to approach, make it a habit.

Facts bro. If anything, you made the intention clear. Who knows, maybe they don’t workout and you see her again
[–]double_prong 208 points209 points210 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Good courage. Next time mention something specific about her you noticed, and try to make it a conversation. You're trying to show her why she might be interested.

Yea try to have small convo, remember kiss( keep it stupid simple), try to tease her or just make joke about something that she says or something in your near vicinity and you can end with "got to go can I have your number so we can continue this later on" or " You seem fun or interesting wanna get some coffee?"
[–]FatRPNewbie 49 points50 points51 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Just walk up and kiss her.
Got it.

Congrats keep up the good work lol! Some girls like this. I do! Gives me a comfidence boost...some girls find it off putting which I don't understand. As long as the guy doesn't force the issue when they are turned down it's perfectly fine imo.

I always see so many rules on reddit. Can't ask out cam girls/OF girls/ waitresses/prostitutes/ can't cold approach/ roommates/ long time friends...
Pretty much the only way I've never seen be shamed is OLD but as a guy it's very difficult. Glad to see not all girls are mad crazy man haters.
[–]Lospsy7 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ofc you are gonna like it it's free assurance for girls but quess how men feel, the confidence you get it leaves from us.I hope men wouldn't have always need to make the first move and be the ones with all the "weight".
[–]killedthehunter2323 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Oh I totally agree. Thats why I roll my eyes when girls complain because it takes a lot of courage to approach someone with the understanding your almost certainly going to be rejected. I do feel like society is slowly changing and women are feeling more inclined to make the first move which isn't a bad thing imo...
I hope that never happens! Can you imagine the generation of pussies we will have if the women are the men in the relationship!?!
Jesus, it’s bad enough already! I really hope it doesn’t get worse…
[–]ytyash 62 points63 points64 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Feels good doesn't it ? Just putting yourself out there. And just knowing that you tried and didn't chicken out. That's such a worth it feeling! Happy to hear this man.

Small step is still a step, you’ll get more of that later. Say something different each time and you’ll carry a good conversation soon enough. Great work and should pat yourself in the back!
[–]NabbyNab14 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Happened to me yesterday, except I didn't ask for her number or anything. Kicking myself now. Good on you man
[–]michimoto 42 points43 points44 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
After the “I have a boyfriend” line I usually say “no worries, take it as a compliment.” The # of second chances this gave me was great even if it didn’t lead to anything. Was good practice for getting comfortable with cold approaches :)
[–]badboy236 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would have liked to see a follow up to the “I have a boyfriend response” as well…. but maybe I’m just being nit picky. lol
[–]fooky21 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What do you mean second chance?
[–]wolfjongen 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think (I'm Just starting so not sure) that this leaves an option open for her to reconsider. Since alot of times when Girls are in a creepy scenario they go for the "i have a boyfriend" strat. But saying "see it as a compliment" shows ur no creep and gives her a chance to keep the convo going and give her number.
[–]michimoto 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep! Took the words out of my mouth
[–]sfii 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
As a girl with a boyfriend, if I was approached/“hit on” so respectfully like this I would be so flattered and it would make me feel great! Similarly when I’ve been single I wish I would have had the courage to approach guys like this too. Kudos on putting yourself out there so respectfully!

[–]theraymondred 5 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
You are now in the top 10% of guys (probably that 10% is way too conservative) who ever cold approached a woman.
Remember: cold approaches are always hard at the beginning. Also after a Long pause you need to get into it again. But you did something that MOST men will NEVER do in their entire lives. You were bold, you didn’t hide your dick, congrats bro.

[–]changthaiman 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Don’t say “no worries”. Kind of like “no problem”. Implies there was worries or a problem to begin with. I like “all good. Or just. “Oh ok, take it easy”
Just my .02. But great job giving it a shot! So hard if you don’t do it often

Her: I have a boyfriend sorry!:) You: cool, would you also like to get some coffee?
Her: I have a boyfriend sorry!:)
You: cool, would you also like to get some coffee?
Well done though! It takes courage to have fear and push through anyway. Cold approaches are nerve wracking for anybody. For what it's worth though, if you try and just be an outgoing person... talk to fucking everybody about whatever... cold approaching the hot girls does get easier.
Talk to the lady behind you in line at the grocery store, talk to the guy getting gas at the pump next to you. Just, everyone.
And talk about whatever the fuck your brain is thinking about in that moment. The lady has wine in her cart? Mention it and tell her you prefer whites over reds. The gas guy, talk about the next lunar eclipse. Whatever, doesn't matter.
The point is to get practice at creating conversation out of thin air, and rolling into new topics. You aren't trying to fuck grocery lady, so there's no risk. You're not trying to get fucked by gas guy, so there's no risk. It's just practice for when you feel risk and fear, you have some experience and it's easier to overcome that fear of talking to the hotty in the makeup aisle.
Good luck lad, and well done!
Yeah you really do need to work those social muscles eh. Thank you
[–]donaldcargill 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Available_Session770 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good for you!! You always miss the shot you don’t take 🤷🏼♀️
[–]idontdobackflips 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
You don't have to cut off the conversation when a girl tells you they have a girlfriend if it's otherwise going well. Something like 'That's ok, I love your vibe! Why are you so happy?" Would have been a fine way to continue the conversation.
You can have friends that are girls, there's a lot of benefits to it.
Good job though man, you did well!
[–]changthaiman 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
“Love your vibe” is super cringe if you’re older than like 23. Just saying.
[–]idontdobackflips 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Then whatever words you want man, that one works for me just fine.
Most of the time it's how you say it anyway, and I like ways of saying lots with few words which 'vibe' is useful for.
It's cringe if you think it's cringe.
[–]Alive-Doughnut2345 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That’s true I just didn’t want to bother her too much. But that’s also a reflection of my lack of confidence I guess. Was desperate to leave shortly after lol. This shit is scary
[–]ass_lover69_pm -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I agree with women being friends is cool but after highschool it seems like most girls just want to be left alone and dont trust guys wanting to be friends.
When someone says I have a boyfriend. To me its "get lost"
[–]idontdobackflips 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nobody's gonna be your friend if you're not a friend to them. Trust is given, not assumed.
A lot of girls get approached a lot anyway, and most of the time it's by someone with too much confidence and not enough value.
What someone says is less important than the context and how it's said. Tell when someone wants you to leave.
[–]Alive-Doughnut2345 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Man who cares we are not entitled to anything even if it is the more polite version of get lost I’ll take it lol. It’s better to try than wonder what if
[–]ass_lover69_pm 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
yea true in the end im not really trippin about it. im just saying thats what it means TO ME, from my experience
Of course. I hope you have better experiences in the future.
[–]eyesopen1111 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’ll fuss at you later for being behind on your pickup training, but let’s start with some helpful tips for beginners:
(1) You were lucky your direct approach compliment was so well received by her. After you get a positive response from a girl like her semi-enthusiastic "thank you," then you do a quick-wit reply, false time constraint, GAME, introduce yourself, and ask her name. For example:
Her: Thank you! You: "Absolutely! We nice-looking people need to stick together! (hopefully she’ll smile again) Say, I’m meeting up with some friends and only have a second, but I’m looking for something and I hope you can help me out. My name is Tyrone Chadsworth, what's your name?"
Her: My name is Target, but my friends call me "WAP"
That's a very tall order for nervous beginners to accomplish and that's less than two minutes of cold approach, lol!!
You have to back away from your direct opening before the boyfriend objection comes out. You have to have a bunch of GAME options ready to go depending on her mood and responses in order to calibrate properly. You have to know and practice enough so it all seems natural to the target. You have to know a fuck load of other shit. Thus, when you put that all together, the chance of beginner success is trivially small.
I’ve scored two of my last four girls from cold approach and much of the advice on this thread is well-meaning, but of poor quality. If you look at my post history you’ll see I don’t think cold approach is a good idea for beginners and that's because 99.9% get rejected nearly immediately due to ignorance.
Thank you for the eye-opening comment. It’s clear being direct and overly formal is not effective
[–]Kitchen_Entertainer9 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Keep doing this and you will atart getting girls even if they have bfs.
[–]Davidskylarkk 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Takes serious balls to do that, pat on the back to you!!
Keep in mind, those are knee jerk reactions that just come out of women! Like if someone pulls a gun on you, your hands go up, can’t not do it…
So next time one says that to you, rebuttal it.
I never try more than once after. If they give me some nonsense about a boyfriend or some other be, I give it one more shot like;
“Good, then we know it’ll just be coffee and interesting conversation. There’s a Starbucks right around the corner, come on” and reach out my hand..
It won’t work 80-90% of the time BUT when it does, it’s almost a guaranteed hook up that day!
Good luck!
[–]Specialist-Kick-1387 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
if "would you like to get a coffee sometime?" was only the second sentence you spoke to that stranger, of course you were gonna get rejected. You need to build rapport.
Think about it: if someone came up to you and complimented say, what you were wearing, then immediately asked you for money, you'd tell them where to go. Why would a girl think any different?
Well my mentality was to make my intentions clear off the bat so as not to waste her time.
[–]Specialist-Kick-1387 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
the irony is that you "getting to the point" too soon, ends up being you wasting your own time as it's much less likely that interaction will result in a number. You need to invest a little in her first.
Also: seeing it as "wasting her time" already implies you don't value yourself as an equal participant in your interactions. You need to change that mindset buddy.
[–]Alive-Doughnut2345 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No you are right absolutely right hence why just asking for number right off the bat is so likely to get rejection okay I get it thank you
[–]Gloomy-Pineapple8480 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Congratulations it gets easier each time you will learn what works and doesn't. Sometimes " i have a boyfriend" is just a defense mechanism she may have been just as nervous as you. Try to throw a joke in there. For example if a girl tells me she has a boyfriend I ask her "how long have you had that problem" and watch her body language
[–]temarpur 17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hmm... I’m not 100% sure this is a good idea. It may be a “defense mechanism” as you suggest, but that means she is feeling defensive to begin with and probably doesn’t want more attention/jokes being made to suss out if she’s not telling the truth. Accept it gracefully and move on is my advice.
[–]Evening_Feedback7471 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I completely agree! If the girl says she already has a boyfriend, that is your cue to politely bow down and not bother her anymore
[–][deleted] 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
[permanently deleted]
[–]Gloomy-Pineapple8480 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's called shooting your shot for a reason. That's why you watch her body language after you ask " how long have you had that probably" if she doesn't go into a defensive stance and continues the conversation its not a complete L. But if you can tell she is uncomfortable, then yes bow out. I agree no means no. Women love the chase not the prize
[–]bluecat129 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Methods to get around the “ i have a bf” wall…
-Suggest they take your number down anyway and call when she feels ready to link up
-Ask if she has single friends and suggest that y’all all hang out together sometime . Even better if you can bring a friend of your own if she’s down.
Just my 2 cents , good job

[–]AstralValProjection 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Too direct bro too direct and you should've started a conversation with her instead of asking her out directly when you approached her. she wouldnt be giving you signals if she got a bf but anyway its your first and its a good thing, just dont forget to analyze your interactions and find ways to improvise.
Okay fine got it I’ll attempt a conversation next time. I would think that is what a possible date was for but I see your point
[–]bikitizd0g9 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You did this perfectly except for one small addition. Enter your business card and if you don’t have business cards it make a card with your name and phone number on it maybe Instagram account. Hand it to her and say “well if it doesn’t work out between you guys, text me and we will get that cup of coffee”. This is the thing, she may be thinking about dropping the guy anyway and this could be the straw that breaks the camels back. All she needs is a reason to move forward. Be the reason
[–]Alive-Doughnut2345 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah maybe if I had one but yeah that’s not a bad idea
[–]comfortfood4soul 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It cost nothing to take this risk, maybe the cost of what, a business card five cents? You already did the hard part you were in a conversation. Why not I take it to the final destination?
Yes you’ll probably never hear from her again but this is the last ditch effort. Then you’ll really feel good about yourself for doing all you could win her affection.
By the way don’t listen to all the down voters, complementing each other for getting Close to the finish line. Print up some business cards and Finish it!

I also hear "cold approach" is ineffective and borderline forbidden 99% of the time
But then again there will always be a girl or guy who screams "I met my lover when he made a cold approach at me" "I met my lover when I talked to her out of nowhere"
[–]Stoner_skateboarder 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wouldnt say it doesn’t work 99% of the time. It honestly is dependent on too many factors to say definitively it works XYZ percent of the time. For me personally ive hooked up a few times and met my ex gf through cold approach.
