Read this book 'No more mr.Nice guy' And then this book 'Models'
[–]Thr120 25 points26 points27 points 9 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Haha, that's literally exactly what I'm doing. I just couldn't get thru No more Mr. Nice Guy, so I started Models instead, and it's a lot easier read for me.
[–]faxfinn 21 points22 points23 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Same. No more Mr Nice Guy is such a boring read I barely covered half the book.
[–]mcool4151 30 points31 points32 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It just means you're not facing the nice guy syndrome
[–]swissarm 17 points18 points19 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Or you have a short attention span.
[–]Thr120 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think that may be my issue. I mean some of the symptoms I do have, but nowhere near all of them.
[–]Aarxnw 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Most people exhibit some of the symptoms described in that book in some way, and even if you don't you can probably still relate your problems to the problems caused by being a 'nice guy', so it's definitely not necessary for everyone. If you needed that kind of help, you'd know it. I couldn't read it either, boring as shit for me and I didn't feel like it would help, but models is fucking amazing.
I recommend "what every body is saying", simply because it's super interesting, and very handy when you pick up what is being taught. (It's about body language, I'm sure you've heard of the book).
[–]WerkinAndDerpin 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He is a bit repetitive but it's to the benefit of the reader imo. Plus it's a very short book there's no reason not to finish it
[–]mcool4151 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Hahah, I'll tell you this:
you should read and apply the concepts in 'no more mr.Nice guy' then you should read models
Models is for those who aren't the victims of nice guy syndrome, so my suggestion is the same if you need another book then try this 'the book of phook'
[–]TheTransformativeRep 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Did you mean "the book of pook?"
[–]mcool4151 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yaaa
[–]TheTransformativeRep 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Pook had an interesting style. What I remember from the book is he played it aloof, generally. I think he relied a lot on looks (preached about getting jacked, not that is a bad thing completely, but I think it can turn into a crutch). It was interesting to read that he communicated like a woman (learned to speak "womanese") and it worked for him. This goes against what I have heard from others and what I believe in, which is that you should be communicating man to woman or in a masculine way, ie being direct and taking the lead. If he is to be believed though, his methods were very effective for him and he's slayed way more chicks than I, and most people, have.
*edit - I just remembered that Pook also wrote that it is your job to take action as the man and lead. I remember one specific example he gave of taking a woman in his arms then when she began to nervously start blabbering he "shut her up" with a kiss and she melted in his arms. So I take back what I said and am guessing Pook was saying learn to speak the language of women so you can better understand them when conversing, but still lead and take action like a man.

I see it's big on TheRedPill. I concede that some of the points those guys argue are fair, but does the book really heavily push that philosophy, or is it more generally written to the type of guys Models is for?
[–]TheTransformativeRep 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
From what I remember, it is a bit sexist but nothing too extreme. There is some good advice in the book though.
[–]zbf 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Honestly, nice guy seems to be a book for the few who are actually living to eat others shit. I tried to read it but i couldnt relate to any of the problems.

Audiobook.
[–]Thr120 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's what I did. With Models too. I just find 'Models' to be far more relatable.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You should really read No More Mr Nice Guy first, maybe find a summary of it that extracts the most important lessons, or get the audiobook and listen to it at 2x 3x speed

Dude a late bloomer is like 26 to 30. 18 to like 22 are just normal imo. Sure a lot of people lose their virginity in their teens but nobody would find it outlandishly wierd to be a virgin at 21 or 22.

Accepting that you're that way for a reason, and working to overcome it helps me a bit, rather than internalizing it or getting stuck into a 'why me' mentality. Being raised in an abusive household is hard to shake off, the toaster going off still makes me flinch, lol.
[–]TronaldDumped 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Hey I'm like you though no longer a virgin, but I'm 29 and have had a single long term relationship which left me scarred and sexually insecure, now I have severe performance anxiety and though I can talk to girls etc, I'm extremely anxious about anything physical. That's why I've decided to find a nice escort, explain my situation to her, and try and work on my confidence again, because I'm scared shitless of things going wrong with a girl that likes me too...
I know it's not the exactly the same as your case but I just wanted to add that imo there's no shame in paying for it, if it helps you get past an obvious roadblock in life, go for it
[–]Jacob_961 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Weren't you doing it with your gf at the time?
[–]TronaldDumped 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I was, but for as long as we'd been together it felt like it was just for me, as if she was doing me a favor, pretty much every time (maybe a few exceptions), she just never really was into it, I always thought low sex drive, or even asexual, and towards the end I had suspicions of her cheating on me, so I started to question our entire sex life. Never really felt "desired" and that kind of sex, frankly, is as satisfying as masturbating with a fleshlight or something...
Honestly, its weird to admit that I have some 8 years of sexual experience, had sex pretty much every week, but it did more bad than it did me good, I dont think I'm good at it, and it's not that I didnt try, could make her orgasm, always asked if she liked it etc, and she did, but it never felt like she actually wanted it, or me... that hurts man...
For what it's worth, we were high school sweethearts and best friends, I think we stayed together because of that, not because of any real passion, and that lack of passion is what made me who I am today, I fear not living up to the expectations when there IS actual passion, when someone actually DOES want me... doesnt helpt that I had a short fuckbuddy kinda situation which went south real bad because of antidepressant ED, felt like I had a great chance there and it fucked me up badly...
Saddest part is that I don't necessarily miss the sex, I mostly miss feeling loved, like someone wants to be with me, what I had with her, which weirds me out, feels like I'm emotionally damaged for life or something. (yes, I do go to a therapist)
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes man. I feel you pain 20 and in that position. Only difference is I've had one gf who I only fucked a couple of times and she treated me like dogshit. That was 2 years ago. If you work on yourself I promise you you can Change yourself. I've just started ACTUALLY working on myself and it's going well, from a guy that was way to shy to kiss a girl just keep working on yourself and the only way to do that is to fight adversity. :)

What if you started a videogame and you were the character? The backstory has been written and you have no control over that. What you can control, to some degree, is what the character does. By doing the right things, you can make the character stronger and capable of more.
If you're physically shutting down get some real prescription ED meds. Stress'll fuck you up proper.

Meds help you find the confidence that it will work. After it worked a few times you won't need them anymore
[–]abandonliberty 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Vividflash's comment is what I've heard from doctors.
We get better at what we practice. If you've failed in this capacity a few times, you've trained your body and subconscious both how to fail and to expect failure.
In an established, understanding, loving relationship you could work through it naturally. There's enough going on during a first encounter that you're setting yourself up for failure by trying to sort this type of thing at the same time. You could also try nofap. Paying for it might work, but the context is so different there's no promise it'll transfer over to normal life.
Make damn sure you're okay being someone who pays for it. You can't undo that.
Just don't subject some poor random girl to your failures. You'll crush whatever self-esteem she has left after going home with you ;)

I'm not a therapist, and maybe you would benefit from one, as it seems like you might have some really deep inner-game challenges.
If, like many people, you're okay with prostitution then your only risks are legality and infections. If you're not - as many people aren't - you could fuck yourself up more. Would you tell your future partner, kids, friends, and family, or are you ok with keeping it a secret forever? Are you truly being honest with yourself right now? Is your judgment clouded?
Working on your inner game (lots of good resources here) is always valuable. However, there's no value in beating yourself up. For the physical challenges, there's a relatively simple solution with potentially much less risk and cost than what you're considering.
[–][deleted] 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
[–]abandonliberty 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In that case it could be fairly reasonable. You needn't have any shame, you have a health problem like any other. Have a plan for what you will do based on the outcomes. It's always better to decide that with a clearer mind.
You can still look into nofap which may fit well in line with your desire to fix this naturally. Some people have great success with it, and it has a good supportive community.
If you are still struggling after all of that, keep trying. There are always more options. It would start to get more psychological. There's regular therapy, professionally guided LSD trips, ED medication, and more.
In the end, you will likely be shocked that something so trivial had such a significant affect on your life. Good luck.

I didn't start really trying to date til about 26. when you get depressed you deal with it. by that I mean you find out what you need to do to get over it. don't just sit and fester. some people need to get out more. some people need friends to bolster them. some people need the help of a professional - there's no shame in it. find what you need, and keep trying til you do.

A day late and a dollar short is basically the story of my life. Fuck the bullshit. Just do what makes you happy. It's what I do. Still on a 23 year dry spell but it's not something that bothers me too much.
[–]Woujo 22 points23 points24 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Being a "late bloomer" means nothing. There are no rules. Also don't let being a virgin bother you. When you have sex you'll be like "this is the thing I was freaking out about? It's nothing."
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not having sex that matters. It's the fact that you've never had sex that matters. It makes you feel like there's something wrong with you. I spent a long time thinking it was because I was shy, or ugly, or some other bullshit. It took a long time to accept that the only thing stopping me is a complete lack of confidence and failure to ever try to initiate or escalate relationships, and the only way to fix that is to build confidence and actually try to start relationships. I wish I could say I magically became more confident and made tons of friends, but I didn't. I'm struggling with things and making progress one step at a time.

Hey man I am a late bloomer too. My best advice to you would be to try to travel between different hostels. It is a lot of fun, fairly cheap and you meet so much people and break your comfort zone. Aiming on doing it again this summer! :)
Don't focus on sex, it will come naturally. For now just try to break your comfort zone every day.

You should call yourself a bloomer too soon, son. I nerded over Japanese girls so after being an otaku weirdo for about 17 years of my life I managed to lose my virginity by 18 to a Japanese girl but grandiosely fucked up myself by being a sissy in the relationship.
I felt like the king of my little world until I realized that my castle was built on sand.
Then another 8 years I struggled to alienate myself from the catastrophic relationship of my parents and to learn how to be with people properly and I still struggle to get it right. Discovered inner game and red pill just now and started getting my mind right. How you need to view certain things for the rational scheme that they happen in. You learn to observe and think about what you do to fuck up and overcompensate. But if you didn't make an error once you won't see nor know how to correct that in the first place. It's all about knowing, experiencing and creating close calls. It's called the circle of accelerated returns.
Now the only problem stopping me from going for what I really want is the lack of drive fueled by malnutrition, society and various self-defeating complexes.
[–]soupit 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That last sentence relates to me man, I suffer from the same thing now. I've had plenty of success with getting girls though, and even quite recently, but even while I was hooking up with this last chick I never felt on top of my game or anything how I used to.
I seriously feel like I peaked at ~18-22. Am 25 now and struggling to be that fun social attractive person I used to be which was in part thanks to a wake up smack from PUA materials. Now that I'm older and have the social experience under my belt (in more than 1 way heh heh ;] ) I am more attracted to the red pill theory stuff rather than seduction. I think redpill can help me get into the right mindset to pull me out of this slump and work on building myself into a good well rounded man then the seduction and girls will come later much more naturally.
[–]holzpuppet 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I find it easier too. The TRP gives you that experienced stud feel which puts you ahead of those 18-24. I had no problem having a 18yo gf last year, became I wanted the feel. But I realized 18yo have exactly the same psychological bullshit going on as 27yo, except the older ones are calmer about it.
I think you are not working hard enough. A mans biological peak is designed to be at 45 so you got a whole fucking lifetime to figure shit out bro just start doing it.

No, I had some friends that I hadn't hit up in years, but most of the people I went out with ended up being friends of friends. I made a conscious effort to befriend any of the friends of the few friends I did have. And I went to all the parties my new friends went to.

______1:Allow yourself to enjoy the journey______
I went from never doing anything with not even a girl's number in my phone, to hanging out every day..... Now I'm still nowhere near where I should be according to my age,
I went from never doing anything with not even a girl's number in my phone, to hanging out every day.....
Now I'm still nowhere near where I should be according to my age,
The mind is a funny thing sometimes. You can make ALL that progress, freeing your mind, reconstructing something more like a normal social life in four months, effectively doing YEARS of work in only four months....
And still that voice in your head will be concerned not with the vast ground you've covered, but what amounts to a few meters on the path of your life.
Four months, and it seems pretty clear to me that you went from almost nothing, to a place that most hard cases could only dream.
Now here's the question: will you allow yourself to downplay all that progress when it's amazing? Or will you allow yourself to enjoy this a little more?
_______2: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a helpful tool_____
....I'm trying to not let that bother me, and I'm trying to rationalize it by saying I was a really late bloomer....
I say, fuck this idea that you should have to bargain or rationalize things for that little voice in your head.
That little voice of doubt is like the last vestiges of the childhood you've been overcoming. (The seeds of negative thought patterns often originate in childhood.)
Those doubts and the depression? It's a well-known cycle in psychology. Thoughts change the brain chemistry and can cause a physical reaction in the body. Thoughts can cause emotions. And emotions can lead to certain thoughts. It's a big circle.
While it's harder to directly affect emotions, you can effect change on your thought patterns that lead to those emotions, breaking the cycle. (Here's a quick overview of how you might start doing this work on yourself. I can elaborate more on it if you need.)
______3:Educate yourself on sex!____
And some ammunition to use would be logical things like realizing that having sexual experience is not quite so big a factor in sexual prowess. There are a lot of people who've had a lot of sex, who are shit in bed.
Really, what might also help you feel better would be to become a student of sex. You have access to the Internet, man. Look up everything you can. Learn about the different male and female orgasms. The male and female g-spots and their locations. The clitoris and its location. The different sexual positions. The basics of foreplay. There's no reason you shouldn't be finding out what you can. If you haven't already.
And if you also realize that every girl is a new situation where you have to explore to find out what they like, then it becomes clear that curiosity and playfulness are more useful than worrying about what the "right thing to do" would be when there really isn't one.

LMAO Late Bloomer my ass. Get this guy a tissue hahaha. I started at 26, now I'm 30. Things have never looked better. I was really fucked up from bad ADHD and Godlike Anxiety... If I can change, anyone can change...
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Any advice on dealing with gnarly anxiety?
Depending on what the real problem is, it's sort of a two-step solution...
Being that I have ADHD, the anxiety is a buttload, like being fucked in the ass all the time, i had to do a mix of taking medication as well as actually going out and facing my fears...
So, after seeing the doctor and getting the right meds for my condition, I went out every night to the bars to be social and practice game and work on my social intutition...
Overtime, the anxiety became MUCH easier to deal with...
On most nights Im out alone however, it still takes a lot of your own willpower to kick your own ass out of that negative, tired, anti-social mood and start being a provider of Good Emotions...
You still need to build up that social momentum if you want to have a good night...
Practice makes perfect.

I was a late bloomer as well. Didn't kiss a girl or have sex until 18. While you may be saying, "that's younger than me," hear me out. From college until only about 6 months ago, and right now I'm 29, i tried everything and the only females that came my way were nothing I really wanted. Esentially, the women who "liked" me on a dating app. It was the only interest I got while all my friends were sleeping with new attractive women on a weekly basis. Long story short, became true to myself and did not change who I was, approached with not caring the outcome, started to dress better, exercise, couple of new a well done photos for tinder/ bumble, and magic! At the point where I choose who I want as well as too busy to get all the dates in within a week time span. Overall, head up, freshen up, and don't give a fuck about outcomes. It will happen, and quickly...
[–]ivanbin 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Doing it at 18 hardly qualifies as late bloomer I'd say.
[–]Mystere366 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Right...be i also qualified it with "hear me out". This subreddit is about PUA or bettering yourself with women. Moral of my story was, I didn't even get to a point of confidence or have the ability to go out with women on the reg until i was 28 or 29.
[–]soupit 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I consider myself kind of late bloomer as well, because I see where you are coming from with this. Most people by the time they lose their virginity in their mid-late teens, have a few years of socializing and social practice under their belt. I had just come out of a social anxiety ridden existence at the end of my 17th year when I got "lucky" and got laid, but most of my friends by then had already been partying and had friends and talked to girl etc. for years before that, even the ones who lost their V around the same time as I did.
I'd bet 18 is close to the median if anything.
Edit: 18 is the average age in the US. Median 16.9.
[–]Garthanthoclops 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I was raised religious, though nothing like what you experienced. My mom was very adamant about "sex is for marriage" but hell wasnt brought up in reference...anyways, I didn't do much until I lost my virginity at 21. My beliefs are still the same in a way, but I began to interpret the Bible differently that what they tell you in church...the whole "sex is for marriage" isn't even in the versions of the Bible in familiar with, it just talks about purity. I feel like the whole notion of waiting for marriage is just to control you. But yeah, I was definitely a late bloomer. Doesn't effect me much, my current girlfriend actually thought I had way more experience than I had once we started sleeping together. A lot of it is mentality. If you feel like you are inadequate, you probably will be. If you feel like you are worth it, then you probably will be as well.
Take the time to focus on other areas of yo ur life. Everyone's life is different.. plus you never really get what you chase until you stop chasing it.

Sorry I hurt your feelings. Don't cry too hard now.
Similar. Didn't do anything in high school as I was fat and ugly. Went to college and got in shape. Still a virgin but I get looks and stares and even a few numbers her and here though I have to step my game up
You're not behind on anything man. There is no time line to life or anything like that. You decided to be more social and that's good don't beat yourself up over lost time, you're still not even anywhere near old. I've posted this before but I was like you I never did any of the normal 20s stuff be a use I spent half my 20s stuffing heroin into my veins. Seems like you picked the much cheaper option if sitting around doing nothing haha. You're not behind for your age or any of that, people get too caught up on age. Just keep going g on and meeting new girls and let the past be the past and enjoy the things you got going on now. I'd say about 50% of most people's problems is worrying too much about what problems they think they have. Also we're dudes so don't worry about hanging onto your V card. Just find one you like and get it over with and start learning what your doing. The whole who you lost your virginity thing too never meant shit to me but maybe that's just me haha.
20 Here, and I know it's not THAT old, but I feel insecure that if I'll ever manage to pickup a girl in a club or something else, I'm going to be obviously a virgin, by sucking at it. (People allways say you suck at sex the first time(s) you do it.)
It's not really that I'm ugly or socially inept (I did, but I managed to change both a bit.) and I've had a couple of girls taking a liking into me, but I just feel completely autistic when it comes to intimacy. I'm scared I'll just come off as some creep going too fast or too slow.

The tinder thing you suggested is what I've been doing for the last month or so. I really have no problems chatting up women, but I guess I'm still a little nervous about intimacy, and don't know how to escalate. One girl was really, really into me, she held my hand, sat on my lap, followed me around at a party etc. It was obvious she wanted to hook up, but I had no idea what to do from there.
[–]alezandrix 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You have to help her understand you find her interesting. And you must show her that you can lead her. She expects you to do it, doesn't have to be supersmooth.
[–]supnat 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have my own method that works for me which basically consists of escalating the flirting when you're super close so you make it inevitable to not make out. My ex girlfriend tried it on me and I started using it after that. It's worked on every girl but one, and I later learned that the girl had never kissed a guy and was too nervous to tell I was coming onto her.
Method: After successful flirting, while we're in super close proximity, I usually joke about something she's wearing or a weird hobby she has and she'll usually respond with another joking insult, and then I'll say something like "I bet I can do [insert hobby or something relevant to conversation here] ten times better than you can". She then responds something like "oh really?", and then I'll say like "Twenty times better", then she goes "yeah?", then I go "Yeah". The yeah's between us two will go back and forth and I lean my face in closer and closer and make eye contact with her and then look down at her lips real quick while I know she's looking at my eyes. A makeout session or a kiss at the very least should ensue. CAUTION: you have to do this with the right tone of voice because it can come off as too cocky/ condescending if you do it incorrectly.
Even if you are too nervous to actually kiss her when your faces are so close together, looking at her lips and making eye contact lets the girl know you want to hook up with her. It may just have been that I was with confident girls, but when I was too nervous to kiss the girl on two separate occasions while doing my little trick, the girls ended up escalating by themselves by resting their head on my shoulder or kissing my cheek (and letting me kiss them) minutes later.
While you're hooking up with her, assess her body language (important for later). If she lets you smack her ass and grabs your cock while you hook up, chances are she's down to go further. After a couple of minutes you should stop and say something like "I bet you're so wet right now", and she'll respond positively to it. If she's gentle and not very touchy while hooking up, I would stay away from being directly sexual because it could scare her away. Instead, you should try kissing her neck and then try pulling her shirt down a bit to kiss her boobs (if you're in a private area of course). Just keep escalating little by little until the gentle girl stops you.
Hope this helps!
