You know, that kind of thing can lead to a vicious cycle.

You sweat because you're nervous.

Then you get nervous thinking about sweating.

Then you sweat.

I don't recommend using too much antiperspirant, because sweat serves a very real purpose - I sweat a lot myself, and I'm really self-conscious about it too. Luckily, it's mostly during physical activity, but when it's hot out, all bets are off.

Try seeing a doctor. Sometimes it's your diet. I notice that when I overeat, even by just snacking too much, I sweat TWICE as much and so much more easily.

Some of us are just born this way. There are ways to deal with it.

Again, it's dangerous too use things like antiperspirant powder on more than a small part of your body, because your body needs to get rid of the sweat.

See your doc for a suggestion.

I suffered from this myself. It made me hate going out to bars, which are typically crowded, hot, and you're drinking alcohol. It didn't help that I was over weight, but sweating a lot is just in my genes. Even now that I've lost a considerable amount of weight I'll still sweat more than others (but not nearly as much as I used to, more of a "normal" level). Not sure if weight is an issue for you. It'll piss me off because all my friends will agree that it is hot in the bar, but I'm the only one visibly showing it.

For you it sounds like a lot of it is mental. Maybe if you tried embracing it that would help (not solve though). I'll bet once you notice you're sweating and try to force yourself mentally (which you obv can't do) to stop, you just start to sweat more. I mean to be honest, most people know how hot it is in a bar./club, so it's not like you sweating makes no sense. Even just saying something like "damn it's so hot in here" may help. I always kept a napkin or something in a pocket and tried to sneak a swipe at my brow when needed. You could also excuse yourself, go outside, pretend to be taking a phone call to get some fresh air and cool down/regroup.

I will say one awesome part of being in a LTR is I no longer have to worry about this when we go out. It is such a relief! But, as someone who had this bother them for years, I feel your pain brother.

I'm a sweaty guy too. You will stop sweating as you get more confident. However, until then, here are a couple of things you can do:

1) Anti-perspirant (clinical grade) 2) Wear clothes that hide sweat (i.e. white shirts, as opposed to grey shirts) 3) Carry a hankerchief with you in your back pocket. http://www.tellthepress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Handkerchief.jpg . When you get sweaty, just whip it out and wipe your face a bit. It's a pretty graceful way to handle the problem. If you are younger (i.e. under 30), I wouldn't flash it around too much though; people will think its weird.

I know a great answer for that. When I was a teenager I used to be soaked up in sweat at the smallest effort/anxiety. Then I found the right, medicinal grade, antiperspirant with aluminum chloride. Here is a useful list:

Use extra strength sport antiperspirant in the areas that cause you the most problems, should do enough to keep it from being nearly as big of an issue as it would otherwise.

I occasionally use antiperspirant (I actually use this because regular roll on started to give me a painful itching rash all of a sudden after years of use without switching brand or type, though I do have a connective tissue disorder too so may or may not be related) on my back as well as underarms because it gets really uncomfortable to sit in a chair with a sweaty back/damp shirt.

Face might be tricky but still possible, many brands of antiperspirant leave no visible residue these days.

I have found that drinking soda makes me sweat a lot more.

Getting in good shape makes you sweat less.

The number one thing is for your to embrace that you are a man, and sweating is normal when you are physically exerting yourself, in a hot situation, or in a tense situation. Learning to control your nerves/tenseness is all about experience and practice.

Hypohydrosis? I'm a girl and sweat a lot the worst is my face because you can't hide it and attractive men make it even worse. Im at a point where I can't go on dates because its so uncomfortable to wipe the sweat off my face every 5 seconds.

I had this problem myself. Not just trying to pick up girls, but in all kinds of situations. Turns out I have a pretty severe anxiety disorder (it somehow never occurred to me that this wasn't normal). I got on Lexapro and have Xanax for when I get attacks, and I'm totally fine now. A couple years ago, my biggest concern of the day was whether my Mitchum was going to do its job, and now I barely think about it.

Ah yes, hyperhidrosis. I have palmar hyperhidrosis (sweating of the hands). So it took me a lot of time to psychologically overcome that anxiety. You definitely have to make changes in your lifestyle to get it under control. After a lifetime of research, doctor visits, and experimenting I have found that the following things have helped me and I hope they work for you:

1) Exercise. This is probably the most beneficial thing that I can list. Exasperate your sweat glands in the morning and/or at night. I try to do this at least 7 minutes of exercise MINIMUM everyday. Not to mention, the plethora of other benefits gained (increasing blood-flow to your brain potentially reducing nervousness because of being clearheaded)

2) Diet. Restrict your caffeine intake as much as possible, eliminate it completely if you can. Try to eat healthier. Sugars definitely trigger the production of sweat. Try supplemental vitamins and antioxidants if you're not a healthy eater, but you should still try to eat healthy foods (duh). And drink lots of water, it cools down the body tempurature.

3) Meditate/Breathing exercises. Your autonomic nervous system has a huge impact on the amount you sweat. If you're about to go out and know you'll be talking to lots of people, try meditating beforehand and learn to control your breathing

4) Drysol. I'm not exactly sure if this works for facial sweating, but ask your doctor. Keep in mind, some studies link aluminum (the active ingredient in drysol and other antiperspirants) to alzheimers. Search for other typers of topical solutions if this concerns you - One I have read about but not tried is Klima Health solutions.

5) Absolute last resort - perscription meds or Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (surgery). They offer certain expensive medicines that you could take for the rest of your life, often with detrimental side effects. Also ETS is a minimally-invasive procedure that can reduce sweating in some patients but is expensive, risky, and often leads to compensatory sweating.

That is all I can think of at the moment, but will continue to add if I think of anything else. Hope this helps.

It's definitely psychological. A pretty typical reaction to social anxiety. And it only compounds when you start worrying about sweating.

Just have to relax. Sweating isn't a bad thing, unless you make it out to be. Releases pheromones, which (on a small scale) could help. Also, when someone is sweating in a visually noticeable fashion but doesn't seem fazed by it, it just makes them seem very confident.

Part of the resolution is to learn to be more comfortable around gorgeous women. Talk to them, even if there's no context for it. Especially if there's no context for it. Make an ass out of yourself. Sweat like crazy. Get rejected a lot. Get used to it. Just be prepared for a bit of rejection beforehand... it happens, but there are tons of others out there.

Worst case scenario, you'll be more comfortable in awkward situations. Best case scenario, a sexy lady will be responsive and you can let your charm do the work from there.

Baby steps. You need to condition yourself to change this small behavior.

Get into situations that make you slightly nervous more and more until you don't get nervous doing them. Just push your boundaries ever so slightly every day.

Not to steal your post, but I don't have a problem because of anxiety. My problem is that I sweat more than usual all the time, I workout every single day and I'm in great shape (190lbs, 5ft 11in, ~10BF). My shirts are always soaked after a workout, short walk up the stairs will leave sweat beads on my face, eating dinner will leave me sweating. I'm constantly hot and I was even worried for my health until my doctor did some testing. He thinks I just have glands that won't shut off or something.

I would just own it and stop worrying. Carry a towel or handkerchief with you.

Every human sweats, there is nothing wrong with sweating more than other people. WHY DOES IT BOTHER YOU????

Just manage it with a towel and then forget about it.

I don't think i sweat a lot, instead what happens to me I end up saying stupid shit or stutter when I get nervous but what of it? No one is perfect.

I would say not to give a fuck about it. If someone says something say "ohh yeah i am sweating, must be hot in here" or "ohh yeah I stutter, must be the beer" or whatever.

I don't think you're going to be able to control you body but the issue you're having becomes an issue when you make it one.

I could be psychological, but I think theres more to it.

I knew I friend of mine, who would just sweat during light exercise, he went to see a doctor, and it was cause he didnt, take a leak often enough. He had to much liquid in his body, and he didn't piss enough out, so his body compensated by producing sweat. Atleast, that's what I've heard from him.

I thought from the title this was dance floor game, as I go hard. But still, I do the following. Never wear more than an open neck shirt, get water from bar and drink it out in the smoking area, go to the toilet to wash my face. This all works in England

I have the exact same problem but am dealing with it.

The random days that I don't sweat are some of my happiest.

I'm doing a few things right now that seem to be helping. 1) Yoga/some form of meditation. Doing yoga is nice because it's kind of a combination of being hypnotized, sweating a lot, exercise, and you get to meet girls.

2) Certain dri every night

3) Light amount of anti perspirant in the morning after a cold shower

4) Light clothing

5) Avoid caffeine, alcohol and garlic/spicy foods as much as possible

6) Sage supplements. Seems to have made a difference

With all of these, I still sweat, but I'm getting a handle on it. Sometimes I just need to walk away from the social situation I'm in, put some cold water on my face, drink some water, fan out my shirt in private, and sit down for a bit. Seems to get my body back to homeostasis.
