I intentionally don't dress in formal clothing very much because fuck that shit.

However I was at a toys for tots charity event over the weekend that required cocktail attire. I must've been told that I should wear a tie more often about fifty times that night.

Am female. Can confirm. It doesn't even matter if the clothes are inexpensive. It makes a statement about your personality. If you care about your clothes, you will be seen as more conscientious and responsible about other matters as well.

Although some of the stuff at H&M are ok, the quality isn't very good. I know that is to be expected when you're paying so low for clothes, especially men's clothes. I personally prefer Banana Republic, JCrew, Nordstrom, and AEO for clothes. As for shoes, Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, and Allen Edmonds are my go-to. These brands are a bit more upmarket, but they're worth the extra costs because they will last you for several seasons and have very nice classic men's styling. As a guy, the quality of your clothes can really make a difference in your overall looks. Cheap clothes tend to give off an overall cheap look, especially after a few washes.

H&M is great for t shirts or maybe an everyday shirts. However if i want quality jeans or shirts ill buy more expensive stuff. But if u like it and it fits go loose!

I like dressing up and see it helps but I do not like going to the bar like I am going to work (I work at a law firm) I wear skinny jeans they are not tight on me and look like I cannot breath however they are not super baggy. I will wear a dress shit with them or a band tee and I find it works well. A lot of the time when people dress up their confidence goes up especially if they do not dress like that normally. I can personally suggest to any man getting a pair of dark blue straight legged jeans white dress shirt and a sweater to go over the shirt brown dress shows and a nice belt. This is a simple starter set for multiple outfits and uses. I am glad it worked out for you bowie_starman1

Never seen any nice clothes at H&M lol, but it has been a while since I've browsed through there. Express is where I get my button up shirts and some jeans. Macys has nice jeans also. Suits and pants on clearance at Kohls.

But yeah, nice professional looking clothes makes a huge difference, especially when you have a lean muscular figure to go with it. Just don't forget some nice shoes or boots too.
