Sorry for the rambling but wondering what people's thoughts are.

I (24m) noticed a new girl (21f) in the office (she's a temp contractor) recently that I don't directly work with but we're on the same floor. She's very attractive, and she knows it - turns heads when she passes. She's my type to a tee. I'm pretty interested in her, and was encouraged by fact that she's not here permanently. I managed to get a mutual colleague to invite her and her colleagues to join us for after-work drinks. We got talking and hit it off really well. By 2am, everyone had left but me and her but she wanted to keep going. We ended up going to a club, drinking more, flirting, and dancing. As we were getting more comfortable with each other, she was an open book, telling me about how she has no experience with guys, has never had a boyfriend, and bragging about the attention she gets from guys in her DMs and in real life. I played it cool, but she made it clear she didn't know how to behave. One minute she'd be fine with me touching and feeling her, then she would suddenly be standoffish for a bit before being normal again. Got the whole "we're not having sex today btw" routine, but in the end, pussied out of making a proper move as I was honestly hesitant since we are colleagues and we had literally just met.

Anyway, we exchanged numbers, and after that day, we continued to text and flirt. I made it very clear that I was interested in her more than just as a friend.

A week later, I invited her out, but she had her own work drinks. So I went out with my colleagues. She ended up drunk texting me at midnight, asking to come to me. She was pretty out of it, so I went to her with my colleague and his girlfriend, as he lives on the way. We ended up going to a bar, then crashing at my colleague's flat since it was late. We're all hanging out, and the whole time she's very touchy and flirty with me. Eventually, my friend and his girlfriend went to bed and left us to sleep on his couch. At this point, her vibe completely switched. She became very standoffish and didn't want to be touched anymore. She wanted to go to sleep, so I said cool, and we both slept separately on the same bed. The next morning, she was aloof again but acted as if nothing happened.

After this happened, I'm really not sure what was going on in her mind. I figured she was having second thoughts about getting close to me. So, I didn't text her and just waited until I next saw her in the office. The next time I saw her in the office, she was still showing me interest. She did things like coming to my area with no real reason to be there, generally just making excuses to be around me and have a conversation. She also comes in way more now, on days she says she doesn't have to (when I'm in). In a few cases, she conveniently left at the same time as me so we could go home together, etc. It got to the point where my colleagues were saying it's so obvious she's into me and are confused why I haven't asked her out yet. What I will say is, in the office, she's more aloof and cold.

Might be where I messed up, but I ended up asking her out over text on the weekend. I asked when she was going to be in the office the next week and suggested we get something to eat after work, sober. First, she asked, "Who suggested that?" and when I said, "I'm suggesting it," she replied, "Lol oh, I don't think that's necessary." I left her on read and didn't respond.

At this point, I'm like cool, I shot my shot, and she more or less said no. I've moved on. I literally didn't see or speak to her until two weeks later. My entire team happened to be out this day, so my area was empty. She decided she was going to come sit right next to me, which is very out of the ordinary. For context, her team sits on a different row, but there's no real restriction on where you decide to sit. I was a little flustered at first but eventually got comfortable, and we were just talking and teasing as normal, both completely acting as if nothing had happened.

Colleagues are still saying I've got a shot. I'm pretty confused, think she's either just trying to be friends now and has lost attraction or does not know what she wants since she's immature, and inexperienced and just liked the attention. I'm just curious what people's thoughts are on the situation and how you dealt with girls like this.
