Because it's fun, it shows you're brave enough to say something negative about someone else (but not petty enough to genuinely mean it), and that you're free enough to break social conventions in the name of having a good time.
People who tease are willing to trade weakness for pleasure, and that's the best exchange you can make socially. Like turning mud into gold.

Here lies the problem. Not everything has to have an objective. Like a military mission.

Yes the male species has evolved to think more rationally than our counterparts. It is important and necessary for survival. However seduction is one of those few things in life that thinking logically is actually counterintuitive. Us men treat talking with women like algebra and everything needs to work in a sequence.
