I've been reading alot of books about attraction lately and they all seem to say "don't be nice". I get it. Nice guys tend to be weak and need to please others. They lack a backbone and show low value. But some of the advice pisses me off. "Don't buy her gifts", "don't take her out on valentine's day", "don't aim for commitment". What if I WANT these things? I enjoy this side of romance. Wouldn't it be trying to please her by avoiding these things just because I think it will kill attraction? I know that doing these things because I want her to like me or because it helps me prove to myself that I'm a good boyfriend would be needy, but what if I'm doing it because I enjoy seeing her in a positive mood? It sounds like I'm being told that I ONLY get to show strength, no tenderness and if that's the case, I really don't think I want a relationship at all.
