This is a complex question. Women are attracted to good looking men, and good looking men have options, no different from popular and attractive women who you continue to try to talk to even though they aren't really interested.

If you are asking why women stay with men who have proven themselves to be abusive somehow, then the answer is because a love/hate relationship causes a chemical imbalance in your brain where you become more and more desperate to feel good feelings, so the good ones feel even more intense. Its been well documented.

But overall, your question is not factual, women do not "typically" go for bad guys. Is every man in every relationship that you know a bad guy? How many dirt bag guys that treat women poorly do you know personally, and how many love their significant other and treat them well? If you come up with most guys are bad still, then the issue is the people you surround yourself with and your warped perception on the matter. If you can clearly see that there are more normal people than jerks, then you can understand that more women are with normal guys than jerks, right?

Because we are the pursued party in dating, at any given time we are inundated with attention. I expect people to give me positive attention, because I am conventionally speaking, attractive, so when a guy doesn't seem interested in me, it makes him stand out. It makes me wonder why this person isn't just groveling at my feet like most guys. And more often than not, it makes them seem interesting to me.

And what you call disrespectful most likely is just teasing, playful fun, messing with each other to get emotional reactions from each other to spice things up.

Why go for a man who doesn’t seem to be interested in you? Because they are not needy, they have interesting life without the need of a girl…

Also they are not as disinterested as you make it sound, they usually show interest. Just the fact that they are teasing you and messing with you already shows they want attention.

So called “respectful mister nice guys ™” tend to have a boring life and need a girl to make it interesting and exciting.

They also think that being respectful is something they should’ve rewarded to, as if girls are moral guardians that reward with sex to those men who behave nicely with them.

Girls are not moral guardians, they are not referees of morality, and certainly there is no such thing as being into someone based on how nice they treat you, women go for people who are sexually attractive regardless if they are nice or not.

Being nice is not a relevant factor when it comes to feeling attraction, attraction is not even a choice, let alone that has to be dictated by morality.

Also those guys are just confident, they don’t take shit form anybody, they aren’t easy to manipulate, they aren’t weak, they go for what they want, they don’t second think themselves,…

I’ll bite. The person you think is disrespectful and a complete asshole probably isn’t that way to her most of the time. That push and pull creates insecurity and if they like you, they’ll chase when you retreat. It’s a fine line though, if you’re too much of an asshole you’ll be out on your ass in a hot second unless you’re insanely attractive or wealthy. Also you’re much more likely to hear about negative experiences because people need to vent, the guy could be the nicest person alive 90% of the time but you’re only going to hear about the 10% when he’s being a dickhead.

These are attractive men's features that women were chasing for thousands of years, to provide social status, protection, high sexual pleasures, strong genes to pass etc. I feel women are seeking to bond with the best male, not to form the best bond :) But the best male can be very different with every woman, but not under the expectations of her social circle.

Because some women are emotionally damaged and have low self esteem. They seek validation from men that don’t respect, care about them, or see them as anything but a sperm receptacle.
