I've been active in our local lair (non-affiliated with anything, and it is very hit or miss with the kind of wing you'll get), and I really like the approach that the Bay Area folks seem to have with seddit. That being the general philosophy of "friends first, wings second." I get frustrated when a dude expects be to bring him into a set I opened, when I don't even know his name or anything about him.

I visited Orange County this weekend, and it was a lot of fun meeting the guys here.

There are some good small-scale meet ups here, but they're mostly done by the seat of the pants, and attendees occasionally flake. A good organizational effort with some of seddit's mods might be just the ticket to get more people to attend.
