Was asked for a divorce yesterday due to "unreconcilable issues" after several months of marriage counseling. Married for 3 years, dated for two, no children, split finances, early/mid 30s. While talking about setting boundaries tonight my wife stated that she wants thing to be "amicable and not messy", and I agree. She makes slightly more than I do (both 100-125k range) and I covered the vast majority of our day to day expenses and she is the saver -so I essentially live paycheck to paycheck. All good when you're on the same team.

We didn't talk about finances often enough and that eventually lead to our breaking point - I had some collections come up that I did not ask for help for and tried to keep hidden from her. I can handle my issues pretty quickly once the dust settles, but at the moment I am essentially broke. She mentioned giving me some "help" to make sure my living situation is taken care of, as the house is in her name.

We have not talked numbers and have an appt with our marriage counselor next week, counselor can also handle divorce paperwork - just want to make sure I am prepared before we get to that point.

Not doing so great personally, but I have reached out to my support system and everyone has been great. I have a therapist and have spoken with them. I also informed some relevant coworkers to let them know I may be dragging ass for a bit.
