I’m 1 month into dating apps and the most luck I’ve had is hinge, never went on any dates yet but got a lot of matches on hinge. Word of caution these women get tons of messages and you have to be the shining star which I don’t have the energy for especially after a divorce

You want more than just hookups? Well, I just wanted hookups. Joined Match, bought 6 month membership. Met someone in 6 days, suspended my membership 3 months ago. Turned out to be a huge waste of 5 months and 3 weeks of membership. There is no formula. You'll get what you deserve. Just be yourself, be honest and get what you give. ALL normal cautions about online dating. No she didn't just have her granny/dog/best friend die. No she didn't just have a tragedy. Don't date any girl that indicates she can't meet physically because she's "out of town" for two week/years/decades. No amazon gift cards are not the way to "her" heart. If she won't give a real phone number probably a scammer.

Always press for a meet quick only do coffee or a cheap drink. If she won't meet after initial contact... because she needs to "get to know you" probably is not local or will not meet in any case

you will have to swipe through 200+ to get 10-20 live conversations to get 1-2 first dates to maybe get into dating ONE girl on the regular.

It's totally a numbers game. Just get used to it

Tried Bumble and Hinge and Hinge was BY FAR the better of the apps. Like others have said, I did have to play the numbers game, matched with 40 women, talked with them, whittled it down, probably went on dates with 10 and hooked up with 3 and dating seriously one of those. Definitely put some good pics up, no shirtless selfies in front of a mirror or fish pic, some funny, genuine facts to get the conversation going and get ready to have rejection and bad dates. All in all I don't at regret the experiences, it was eye opening getting back in the game but I took it all in good fun.

OLD (online dating) is really not set up for men. And and pretty much geared towards hookups. The issue is that women get a ton of likes on the apps. Even a 4 will get a few daily, and the 8+ are getting dozens or hundreds daily.

So their view of self gets warped, and they reject all but the top 10-20% of guys (on the app). And that is primarily determined by looks. In theory, what you write matters, but the reality is that it's all about the pictures.

get high-quality photos. No selfies or bathroom mirror shots.
you pictures tell a story of the lifestyle you live and the lifestyle they have access to if they choose you. So you need a few full body shots, some with other people, doing activities, etc. Think of the pictures as a photo book that says: this guy is rarely high value and fun.

If you don't look good in photos, don't have photos that demonstrate a desired lifestyle, or don't want to hook up, just skip OLD. It's a cluster.

It is better to meet people face to face, where you can use your charm and other assets easier. OK Cupid has released the best data on this, women grade 80%+ of the men on their site as unattractive/un-datable. Women swipe right on 10-20% of guys, all the same guys. Those men are in the same boat as the women, LOTS of choices, so they are just fucking around. But if you are not part of that group, you are frozen out.

Look at the OLD business model. Women get full access for free, while men have to pay.

Don't know your area, but random life, meet-ups, parks, art gallery/showings, outdoor festivals, etc, are a better choice.

With that said, Bumble, at least, has the women contact you first.

Just explore the apps. The fun is the distraction of texting and seeing where these shit show goes. Can pass the time easier. Lol. You have the grifters, the bangers, the I want dinner out of this, the Looking for resources daddies. Use different approaches on different apps: tinder just for fun.

I think when you do your profile less is more. Don’t say shit about divorce and the timeline. Don’t get married again! It takes years to vet a woman.
