Don’t tell her for sure. Tell your lawyer for sure. Also, I bet a million bitcoins your wife already knows and is hoping you do try to keep it hidden. Keep only half it it from her by not lying.

well... now (and I'm sure you noticed if you did your taxes last year) you were supposed to disclose if you had crypto assets

If you did not... you are in trouble with the gov not the soon to be ex.

Since it's "six figures" I would hire another family law attorney on your own dime (with separated funds, go to wifey and say let's split 20k or whatever so you have 10k and I have 10k now whatever you need to do)

Hire a lawyer (not your current lawyer/ or whatever you are using) and get an opinion, a legal opinion, a practical opinion if you ignore sworn statement issues for discovery of assets that type of thing. retainer costs 5k you will probably pay 1-2k in legal fees to "analyze" this matter.

And since you have substantial assets I would also ask that new lawyer about the issues with "non-contested" agreement vs ordinary filing an "contested"

If you go contested your decree will likely hold up even if your ex later finds out you have more assets than previously disclosed.

In my area if "oopsie" there are assets believed to be withheld from discovery for an "amicable/uncontested" divorce the judge THEN tears up the decree, and re-starts proceedings with the understanding that the Dad perjured himself in past case. If you have KIDS you REALLY REALLY don't want to go there.

I just noticed that you have kids.. so yeah get a legal opinion and go contested.

For real tho that’s big enough numbers to have potential legal action and if nothing else look really really bad in front of judge if they find out you were trying to hide it.

Typically in a divorce, there is "Discovery" in which you're supposed to share documents including financial documents. If she had a lawyer, I'm sure the lawyer would catch a 6-figure discrepancy/withdraw.

Don't you think your wife will catch it?

At some point, you'll be asked to declare your assets -- under oath.

I guess it all depends on your risk tolerance and the likelihood your wife will discover the missing money.

Me before divorce - sure you may want to disclose that in case it comes up later

Me after divorce - hell fukin no, don’t tell her anything extra at all ever unless they ask specifically.

My wife has hide countless sources of income and we have had to ask multiple times to get statements some of which we still did not ever receive. The family law legal system is an absolute joke.
