If you evade service then your ex will have to petition the court for an order to allow substituted service. She will probably have to pay extra for processing servers making multiple attempts and court fees and lawyers fees. That might feel good but judges don't like that kind of thing. You're going to make her a victim of you acting like a child. Not a good move.

Have you ever seen a person get a parking ticket on their car and grab it, crumple it up and throw it on the ground? That doesn't make the ticket go away. It just means they don't have the ticket and details they need to pay the fine. Always seemed kinda dumb to me. You will essentially be doing the same thing if you evade service.

Why aren’t you taking the papers? It is what it is. Eventually they’ll publish it or just get a judge. If he or she doesn’t want you why would you want to stay married?

My sister’s ex did that. He hid for awhile. Eventually the judge let the attorney serve him by putting a notice in the newspaper. The divorce went through eventually. My sister got 100% of everything she wanted.

Also can you find a cheap or free lawyer? If not, chatgpt or claude is better than nothing.

You need a long term strategy and this is a bad first move. It does nothing to help you. Look up default judgement which is the worst possible scenario for you. You are inviting it if you try to avoid service. They can just drop it in front of you and you’re cooked.
