To be fair, I think men can be loved by friends and family without providing something. But when it comes to wives and divorce, it's often all about money.
After working hard for 25 years to provide for my family (and making more than most of my friends and co-workers), my wife said this to me yesterday: "You should've left your job and found another one where you made more."
I couldn't believe it. No "Thank you for working so hard all these years so I could stay home with the kids." No "I appreciate you getting up every morning and putting in all those hours to make sure we were cared for." Just... "You didn't make enough to make me happy."
Well, good luck to her. I hope she can find someone who earns enough to make her happy.

I have an exec job, so, nice home, nuff money, no worries, but the 10hrs was the normal working day and at times they were longer.
When I came home, after dinner I usually brushed my kids' teeth and put them into bed. Often I was tired and still in the work-tunnel of my mind, so I didn't come home and was all the time 100% focused on the kids. This was one item on the list of my inadequacies.
I am wondering whether she manages to give them 100% of herself after coming home from work now (as she had to start working after separation).

This is Divorce_Men - it’s cathartic to be able to say this in a space meant for us. Anger is a multi faceted thing and sometimes when I am angry I may, in that moment, believe ALL women are this way...
Now, I calm down and vent, using this subreddit to express that anger, then I come back to reality and understand that’s my emotions talking... and not all women are like that.
I do hope you let women know it is also #notALLmen or #notALLHusbands
Also, you don’t understand crime - generalizations may be weak and wrong but they are not inherently a hate crime because you are a seemingly a warrior for a cause and you are offended.

I wonder if this will change as women make their own money, have their own careers, and expectations of them become the same as men (in the workplace and economically). It certainly is a fact today. A woman can lose/give up her job and remain married for a lifetime, a man doesn't have 6 months (in most cases).
Now, to balance the scales... in these more traditional marriages, women have to provide something as well, and that dynamic isn't healthy either.

I know girls from school who took the urban route after high school and made these grand careers and keep up this stellar image, but the problem is they feel no guy can measure up to them.
Lots are gorgeous at 35 and make lots of money, but then wonder why they’re still alone with no marriage or children.
Careerism and feminism is killing traditional family units.

I felt the same way, but honestly I’d rather go out to work for eights hours than stay home clean cook and tend to the kids for eight hours a day.
