Big win today! I just assumed that I was going to get crushed because “female bias of the court” but my lawyer and I came up with a great case. STBXW was asking for almost $6K in combined support and ended up only getting half that. Also her request for a restraining order was denied! She lied repeatedly in her financial declaration and the commissioner figured it out too. The look my ex’s face when her request for legal fees was denied was priceless.
The big reason why we were successful is that we submitted a good amount of high quality evidence. This is something very important for everyone to remember. All that matters in court is what you can PROVE. Everything else is hearsay and won’t be considered. When we submitted a hard written budget by my ex that stated that her expenses were HALF of what she was claiming in her declaration that was the nail in the coffin. She used emotional arguments and we used evidence. Learn from her mistake and be successful. And please, please, please retain counsel. I watched a bunch of men go before me on the docket who were defending themselves against their wife’s counsel. They all got smoked. Don’t do it if you can at all avoid it.
