This thread on AskReddit reminded me of this fact: Never Pay for a Man's Education! Soooo many stories on that thread of people's dads ditching their mom for a younger, hotter model, after his wife slaved for him to get a degree.

You may think you're investing in him and your future together, but in my experience the situation is almost never reciprocal. The understanding is that once his education is finished, he'll then help pay for your education/to be a stay-at-home mom, but that doesn't happen. My aunt fell into this trap, proving that men did this back in the '70s, too. She worked to put him through college, warmed his bed and bore his children, and he ditched her leaving her with 3 kids and no degree of her own.
