Deleted all my dating apps today

Good on you sis! I just don’t think dating is a great idea during a pandemic period. Men are becoming exceedingly LV and using the pandemic as an excuse for their low effort actions.

I remember reading a post on here from a wonderful lady who said that every 10 minutes swiping on a dating app each day translates to 70 minutes a week. That 70 minutes a week is best used for something that will level you up in some way, such as learning a new skill, picking up a hobby or mastering a language.

That comment sunk in for me and now I’m applying my precious time to something more useful and avoiding LVM via dating apps altogether. It’s awesome.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago! I have been taking a step back and examining some of my day-to-day behaviors. With everything going on in the world, it's more important than ever to focus on things that bring value to your life and help improve your wellbeing.

Anyways, when I thought about what I was actually doing, I realized I was mindlessly swiping and having the same conversations with men without ever actually progressing to phone calls or dates. What's the point? Nothing at all. The only thing I was getting was frustration and annoyance. So goodbye apps.

I did this two months ago. I also blocked all the random men in my phone from my previous dating life (to stop all ‘I miss you texts’). And in the time I’ve gained back from not having someone’s racoon looking son bothering me for underwhelming sex, I’ve discovered a love for hiking. And a meetup group that also loves hiking. I’m experimenting with different art mediums and loving life. It might be a struggle to ever start dating again.

Learn a new skill via your library for free (or other places).

Work out more.

Watch more movies/documentaries.

I've never used OLD, I always met my exes organically. Lately I had been tempted to create an account to see what all the fuss is about.

This post and these comments have changed my mind. Especially that comment on how using OLD for just 10 mins a day equates to 70 mins a week, and how you can instead use that time to work on a hobby or yourself! Love this concept!! 💗

Also, I think for me, the feeling of wanting to use OLD apps is actually my underlying pick-me tendencies trying to claw their way through. That instant validation seems so gratifying!

But that pleasure only lasts a moment. True joy in working on myself (and yourself) will last a lifetime.

I decided to no longer be on those apps as well and realized that I've been having a bit of difficulty since I think became somewhat addicted to the swiping process. It feels so much better not having LVM/NVM blowing up my phone and it's given me so much more time to focus on myself and leveling up. It's wild how you don't even realize how much time you waste on those apps until you get off of them.

I deleted all mine recently, too. I wasn't meeting many people; not for lack of potential matches (my Tinder 'likes you' queue was at about 3500 when I deleted my profile) but because the quality of the people in my area was just so poor. The matches I did make didn't put much effort into conversation. The couple of dates I did go on were awkward and not to be repeated.

I'm working through the FOMO at the moment and reminding myself that it's highly unlikely I'll meet a HVM or HVW through OLD.

It’s been almost 3 months for me and I feel so much better. I will never use the apps again, it’s not worth it. I’d rather be single and loving myself than dealing with nasty LVMs

I had that same elated feeling when I deleted Tinder, which is the worst of the lot, in my opinion. I can’t believe I had it for soooo long with absolutely no luck.
