An often-made assumption when talking about male victims of war is that the reason men make up the majority of deaths within conflict is theis due to them being the ones fighting. This ignores the hard reality that many men are targeted by military and para-military forces. Seeing them as potential threats in the future men are often taken prisoner tortured or killed while the women and children are let go. In almost every known conflict i am aware of men make up the majority of civilian casualties. Im pretty happy that at least there is some recognition of men in the war however this article is only an isolated example. It fails to examine the larger implication and unique vulnerability men face in conflict zones. I am reminded of a report by an NGO regarding the death of civilians in Syria. Im not making this up the title was "1,271 Civilians, Including 299 Children, 134 Women, and 104 Victims of Torture, Killed in Syria in 2021". This report is some of the best mental gymnastics I have ever had the displeasure of reading in my life in its attempt to erase male victims. It's funny and depressing how male victims are only ever mentioned twice in the entire report. One in order to highlight a particular incident and another time when highlights two boys that died. The report completely ignores the very obvious gender division regarding men and boys and instead spent a significant portion of attention documenting the number of women who had lost their lives.

I feel like once you look into not only the inaction but the deliberate attempts to erase male victims you kind of realise how vital and perhaps futile the idea of advocating for men's rights is. Official government organizations view the average man's life as literally worth less than you average woman. Its terrifying and very dishearting.
