Women have several options to opt out of motherhood. How does she feel about those? Does she feel a mother should be able to surrender a child or put it up for adoption?

If she believes women should have such rights, but not men, then she’s a hypocrite.

Being a mother defines some women. It is their identity and purpose in life.

So, the issue with child support is not child support itself, it's the mother mental state and her narcissistic tendencies. Kids need fathers and fathers should be present in a child's life, but when a mother severs that involvement due to her mental health issues, then she is saying that she bars full responsibility for that child.

Should a father be involved in a kids life? Absolutely yes
Should a father care for his child emotionally, physically, financially? Absolutely yes
Should he have un-impeded access? yes
Should he have the ability to withdraw financial support if he has physical presence selfishly impeded by the mother? Ab so f'ing lutely!

When a mother plays games with the father, she breaches that parental contract. A father is responsible for 50% of the child. 50%. When the mother withholds that 50%, she is saying she wants to take full responsibility for the child. The father should be under no obligation to send $$$ to a child he is prevented from seeing, preventing from being an active part of their life, prevented from raising, prevented from making decisions about.

Parenting is a two party process. Both parties need to be present and active. A father is not a sperm donor wallet on legs.

You're afraid of losing her? That's indicative of a much bigger problem which may eventually hurt you far more than you think. You should really pay attention to that statement.

This person doesn't respect you or your thoughts, and is more invested in protecting their fragile "women are so special" worldview than considering your feelings or relationship at all.

You need better friends, and to cut this one out of your life. It doesn't matter that she disagreed, like you said, it was how she disagreed and then immediately went to "it's not up for debate" (yes it is) and asserting that she was right and you were wrong without any evidence, and then expecting you and others to respect her and just go along with that.

This person doesn't seem worth wasting time on.

You should not be afraid of getting rid of a person like that from your life. You are not feeling this way because of you, but because of her. Get away from people who make you feel less equal, less deserving or less important; get away from people who make you feel less. Someone once said "it's better to be alone than in bad company", but in your case you just have to find people who give you -and men- the respect you deserve.

Being able to disagree respectfully isn't that common these days I see. I've had conversations with online friends where we disagree on a topic but debate/discuss it in an appropriate manner. If she, an adult, cannot discuss a topic with you in a respectful manner, she shouldn't be your friend anymore. Maybe, see if she will see the errors of her attitude and apologize but if not, do not waste your tears on her. There's plenty of other women out there who won't go ballistic on you for your opinion.

I don't get why this idea makes people so mad. If you want a child, find a willing partner. If you want a child and your partner doesn't, think if you can raise them all by yourself. If yes, go for it. If no, you shouldn't be able to make a decision for him and make him pay for it. Why is this so difficult. Also, OP, you said nothing wrong and if someone needs to apologize, it's her, not you.

As a guy, I think all the whiny posts about child support are funny... It takes two to tango.. If you didn't want kids, you should've made damn sure your condom was non-expired and in working condition or your Vasectomy was correctly done. Period. You don't do "the pullout method" and you never trust the woman's birth control... I'm 36, have had plenty sexual relationships, and have managed to never knock a girl up.. I feel like a deserve a trophy for it because every day I see posts on this subreddit of guys complaining about child support.

You can't reason with most women on this topic. I know someone who was in a fk buddy type relationship with a woman and she got herself pregnant without telling him; had the baby, and now he is paying child support! Said this to a bunch of females at work and they were like "Yeah of course, nothing to see here". They literally could not see the problem with the total lack of reproductive rights that he had in this scenario. Also, don't cry about upsetting a woman with common sense dude. Otherwise you'll be crying a lot.
