This is because men are seen as less valuable than women. The only way to change this is working on human rights and men who get drafted should surrender to the other party. The other big problem is women traditional roles got improved in the last 100 years while men are still expected to perform traditional roles. We need to abolish old male traditional roles and norms.

A draft is horrible but what makes it worse is the government allowed women to avoid conscription also women received additional benefits from the government and many left the country.

It's not just inhumane. It is a war crime. as far as this is literally killing of civilians. Civilian men didn't get their permission to go to the frontline. While men are being caught like animals on the Ukrainian streets.

Take a look at the UN Declaration of Human Rights. How many of those rights are violated with a draft? How many more are violated with a gender specific draft?

In World War 1, the British government started the "White Feather" campaign where women would hand white feathers to young men who are not in uniform to shame them into conscripting.

The crazy part is when they handed a feather to an actual soldier who happened to be back home in his civvies:

Private Ernest Atkins, who was on leave from the Western Front. He was riding a tram when he was presented with a white feather by a girl sitting behind him. He smacked her across the face with his pay book and said, "Certainly I'll take your feather back to the boys at Passchendaele. I'm in civvies because people think my uniform might be lousy, but if I had it on I wouldn't be half as lousy as you".

Or another one called George Samson who was actually on his way to a public ceremony to receive the Victoria Cross.

I'd even say it's a crime against humanity. If a man wants to go to war out of his own free will then that's a different thing and we should let him go and do it. But forcing a man, who doesn't give a fuck about anyone's war, to go and join that very same war and die or get injured? Fuck that!

In the US there is a, "conscious objector," clause.

In which you may be placed in non-combat roles in the event of a draft.

If are not, and have not been, a pacifist it's really the only way to get it, they'll look at your life in the past to see you really are one.

Bonus points if you're in a pacifist religion, or pacifist sect of a religion like christian quakers. But you probably won't get those bonus points if you join it when a draft happens.

Starting to sound like a broken record here, but in Ukraine's case it is an existential threat to their population.

The idea of a country mobilizing its entire population, men and women included, is an absolute last resort and would only be considered if the odds are overwhelming and there is basically no choice. As it currently stands Ukraine clearly doesn't feel the need to do this, they are hesitant to even mobilize people under 27.

No one likes the idea of a draft, war is hell and everyone knows that. But when a country is attacked and needs to defend itself, it can't just create an army of disposable clones like it's Star Wars, it needs to rely on its population to answer the call to defend it.

For the past 70+ years, most developed nations have been incredibly lucky to not deal with a war that threatens their existence and as such have become used to the idea that a nation is defended and fought for by professional troops and the notion of forcing people to fight is unthinkable. WW1 and WW2 was mainly fought and won by people who were ordinary people just like you and I who were dragged from their lives to fight in a war they had no part in starting.

This is the reality of war and the result of our apparent obsession with imaginary lines drawn on a map by people greedy with power.

Not a mens rights issue. If you want to argue women should be drafted go ahead. Otherwise you are trying to argue countries should just allow themselves to be invaded and be pacifists. You either accept slavery or you acknowledge you may have to fight for your freedom.
