I can't find it right now, but this story was submitted to reddit a while back before she was found not guilty. It talks about how he told her "Which child do you want me to kill".

The majority of reddit agreed with her killing him. It's all in the title I guess.

I'd think at least manslaughter. Abuse does horrible things. I wonder if she really had to kill him, or just didn't think about escaping the relationship as properly as she should've. =\

Let's not forget the man was basically sedated into a coma at the time and not possibly a threat to anyone. How murdering an unarmed and unconscious person counts as "self defense" is a mystery to me.

God knows I'll be downvoted to hell by the "women can do no good" brigade, but prolonged physical and mental abuse has been shown to have an effect on the psychology of responsibility in its victims, and with reduced responsibility comes reduced criminal liability. Nice scare quotes, by the way; battered wife syndrome is totally made up by the global misandrist conspiracy...

As a male who's often seeing stuff in this subreddit that makes my blood boil - things that I would fight viciously against - I have to say that this doesn't anger me. The title did instill some curious frustration into me, but looking at this from an objective perspective... she did the right thing.

The man was a violent, abusive cunt. "Battered wife syndrome" isn't diluted yet: it's one of the few 'victim' scenarios that hasn't been overwhelmed by pseudo-victims exploiting it.

I do believe in mercy and redemption but anyone that treats another human being like this man treated his wife deserves to die. He lived for many decades. We can safely asume in this time he was presented with vast amounts of information to help him form values wherein he respected the life of other human beings. He did not find that respect and after 50 years, I am willing to assume he never would have.

As a man, I endorse this woman's right to kill the man who tortured her. As a human, I value the life of other humans based on how they value their peers.

A person who has no respect for the lives and wellbeing of others does not deserve to have their life or wellbeing respected. If you downvote me, I challenge you to refute this point.

Who are these coward jurors that are not willing to punish the citizens of this country by the legal system presented to them? She's killed him, there is not two ways about it. Jail time required, in the very least to show that we don't solve our problems by killing people.
