3-years here at Reddit. This is a throwaway.

I have been seeing this woman for 2 years. Our relationship is very intense...high highs and low lows. For 1.5 years I have lived in Massachusetts and she's continued to live in Raleigh, NC. We see each other about once per month.

In the first week of November 2010, we flew to meet in Dallas, TX for a few days of fun and we drove down to Austin to check out the night life. Austin is AMAZING.

So the story begins: Saturday night I had pricelined a 4-star hotel in Dallas, we had an important NASCAR race to attend on Sunday. We were in the room and we get into a verbal argument at around 10 pm. She starts smoking a cigarette in the room and I tell her to knock it off because they impose big fines for that. She wants me to move back to NC, but I'm not able to find a job there, so therefore I don't love her, and on, and on. She calls my mother a whore, threatens to harm my X-wife (who just had a baby), and I finally lose my shit.

I grabbed her belongings and threw them into the hallway. At this point she grabs me and starts kicking, punching, and scratching. Realizing that I'm really not doing myself any favors, I put her stuff back in the room and start packing up my belongings. When she sees me doing this she goes completely ballistic.

She tries to prevent me from packing my bag, tries to push me away, she tries to unpack my bag. I had to restrain her from hitting me. I finally make it out the door and I leave the hotel. I get in the rental car and take a breather, gather my thoughts and go ask the conceirge what my options are. He says that I can have a guest removed from the room if I so choose. I decided to go back upstairs and try to calm things down. She is calmer and we live in peace for about an hour.

Then she starts calling people on the phone and telling them that she has been the victim of domestic violence. "Hi guys it's me, just wanted to let you know that I have been assaulted and the police may have to get involved.". She does this for about 20 minutes and I lose it again. I tried to snatch the phone from her, and she looks up at me and screams as loud as she can as if she's being raped.

This isn't a game anymore.

I called the front desk and asked that they come remove her from my room. Now, typically I would have just left but I was afraid she'd damage the room knowing that I'd have to pay for it. She had already begun smoking in the room while I was downstairs. 2 minutes later I called the front desk again and told them not to worry about the removal because we had calmed down again. I knew that I would have to leave if there was going to be peace.

20 minutes later the cops showed up. I guess once they're called, the hotel doesn't just "uncall" them. They asked what was going on, and they take her out of the room. I can hear her saying that I had assaulted her, and that I had illegal guns (she was lying). The cops asked for my side of the story and I told them exactly what is written above. The head cop said that she is accusing me of assault, and I said that anything I had done was defensive and I removed my shirt to show them the scratches. She was looking so damn hot that evening and she was in tears. I am still amazed that they took her to jail instead of me.

Here's where the nasty situation starts:

Her father who lives in Raleigh called me around 4am and I told him that she had gotten herself arrested and that I didn't call the cops (the hotel did). He was already in his car driving 1200 miles to come to her aid. I didn't sleep that night and I was on the phone constantly with her family explaining the situation and doing what I could to help get her out of jail.

Now her Dad is wealthy and he asked if I could post her bail. At first I told him no, but then I changed my mind around 1pm. He was worried, she had been a bad girl, but I didn't think she should remain in jail. He wanted me to bail her out because you have to do this in person. My big mistake here was not forcing him to Western Union the money to me. I posted her $2000 bail at 2pm using my personal savings. They let her out at 6pm and he begged me not to mess with her. I told him I'd be a gentleman, so I picked her up from the Dallas County jail, took her to a hotel, and left.

That was 10 days ago. She is charged with Possible Bodily Injury and Possession of Marijuana (hers). She has to appear in Dallas in the beginning of December or the County keeps my $2000. Her father had promised to pay me immediately. I called him last night to ask where my check was...no answer. Today I get a message from him saying that he "saw" the bruises on her and that I deserve to be in jail. When I called, he said "I'm sticking this thing on you, you should be in jail you son of a bitch".

Yes, I'm a moron. She is bad news and I got myself into this thing. But I've always had a great relationship with her father. We've worked together plenty of times to help her out of the situations she gets herself into. Her father is an amazing person who I have never heard utter a negative word or lie. In my mind, he's one of the greatest people I've ever met. I trusted him.

Any ideas people?

Couple of specific questions:

Can I sue him for the money even when there's no contract?

Is there a way to ensure that she shows up at court so I could get my money back?

Edit: tl;dr I bailed the woman who assaulted me out of jail on the promise of repayment by her father who now accuses me of assault and refuses to pay me back $2000.
